Anyone else from Sussex County?

Or is it just me?

Brina is from Sussex County (she got married in June).  My parent's own a house down in Long Neck that they use on the weekends (so i'm down often and know the area).  There are not many DE knotties from down that way.

I guess that's why it was so easy to get my venue for the date I wanted.  It's just me getting married next year.  LOL!  Laughing

I'm not familiar with the area but from what I hear there isnt much down there. Correct me if I am wrong.

I would say the coastal areas are more hopping in the summer months, when the beaches are open.  traffic can be a nightmare at that time.  I'm not sure about more inland though.

LOL!  We have the beaches.  Other than that, there's not too much down here.  I prefer to think of it as peaceful, rather than dull.  LOL!

I've never been to one, but I've only just started to recently become active on the boards.  I get up to Wilmington a few times a month for shopping, etc.  It's not too far from where I live (if you don't consider 45 mins to an hour too far) since I am only about 5 mins from Rt 1, so it's almost a straight shot for me.  The photog I hired is from Wilmington and I had to pay a travel fee for her to come down to Georgetown (where we are having the wedding) but she's worth it so I didn't mind.

As long as you don't consider it far thats all that matters. I drive back to long island atleast once a month and thats 3 hrs each way.

Wow, you make really good time!  One of the nice things about DE is we're really close to several major cities, so it's easy to make day trips.  I don't mind car trips, especially if they are only a couple of hours long.  My fiance's family is all in Tennessee.  That's an 8 hour drive for us.  This past summer his father was home on hospice (colon cancer) and we were making the trip down there and back every weekend for 2 months straight until he passed away, so we got really used to being in the car for extended periods.  Now when we drive down there it feels like the trip is only a couple hours long, since we've made it so many times.

As far as long car rides I refuse to make them around the holidays...especially since I have an infant now. So we will be spending xmas here this year all by our lonesomesFrown.  It took almost 9 hrs one way xmas eve last yr.

Thank you, we're sad that his father is no longer with us.  But glad that his suffering is over.  If that makes sense.

Oh goodness, I bet traveling with a baby, or children at all, is tough.  I could not imagine.  (Although I better, at some point I hope to have children and Gramma lives 8 hrs away).

I am half and half.  My dad and his entire family live down in Sussex (my aunt and uncle are in Rehoboth behind Rehoboth Mall, my grandparents and other Aunt and Uncle are in Lewes off of Beaver Dam Road, and my cousins live in Milford), so I spent much time down there growing up, and still go down there when time permits.  My mom's family is from up north, and since my parents are divorced, that's where we live now.  My dad works as a nurse anesthetist, both up here and down there, so he's all over the place now.
