Help on HM in Riviera Maya

My FI and I are trying to plan our honeymoon for June. We want to get the best bang for our buck and have heard great things about Riviera Maya. I have been overwhelmed by the choices and need some advice. Right now the three that stick out to me are Royal Playa Del Carmen, Secrets Maroma, and The Valentin. We would like to keep it under or around 3,000. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

    Have you gotten price quotes for those resorts?

    I can't help on pricing for your timing, but I will say that we HMed at Secrets Maroma and absolutely loved it.  I have pics and a review in my Ms. Bio under Honeymoon if you're interested

    I love Playa Del Carmen.  I have never stayed at those resorts though.  We own timeshares and trade in.  I have stayed at the Royal Haciendas and at the Grande Luuxe which probably don't help you but Playa Del Carmen is so beautiful and has so many wonderful resorts that you probably can't go wrong with any that are highly rated.

    We haven't gone yet but we're booked for the Valentin Imperial. It was the best deal we could find in Riviera Maya. Check out sites like bookit.com, applevacations, and cheapcaribbean to see which one has the best price!

    We just booked our HM @ The Royal PDC for September and we are staying 6 nights w/ airfare for $2500.  we booked ours through a travel agent.

    I had this problem a few months ago. I am also HMing there. I found Catalonia Royal Tulum near Playa De Carmen. I don't mean to add another hotel to confuse you. I will just tell you about my hotel finding experience:

    I narrowed my searches between the one I picked above and the Valentin Imerpial. I found what worked the best is to go on trip advisor. Read the reviews and write a pro & con list for the resorts that my travel agent had deals for. I narrowed it down to those two. I chose the Catalonia for both price and the fact that it was more secluded. Also, I didn't need a fancy room since we would be on the beach and outside all day anyway. Our hotel is on the once of the best snorkeling spots so I had to choose it since we are very outdoorsy and wanted the best beach.

    I am slightly against the Secrets just because I think they are a little high in price  because you're paying for the brand name when you can get just as nice of a stay in an of the top rated resorts like the Valentin. Not saying you won't have a fabulous time at the Secrets but I think either way you go, you win.

    Just do the pros and cons and pick the resort that you feel is right for you and your fiance..each couple is different. Valentin I found was just too many activities for us. We wanted to be lazy but you as a couple might love that sort of thing!
