June 2012 Weddings

For those who painted their own card boxes...

Did you use spray paint or regular paint? I have a paper mache box and was thinking of using spray paint but have spry painted anything before..

Thank you!

  • Spray paint is good if you have somewhere to do it....just make sure you get it on evenly. Personally, I like hand painting because I like the texture it gives.

  • I spray painted mine and it looked weird. So, I went over it with regular acrylic paint. Much better!

  • I used spray paint.  Three light, even coats was enough to cover two brown mache boxes.

  • I had the brown paper mache boxes and used regular acrylic paint with a sponge brush.
  • We purchased white spray paint, but FI hasn't painted the box yet to know if it works well. Sounds like we'll have to do a few coats, but that's fine.

  • Thanks girls! I guess if I mess it up I can always just go over it

  • The deal with spray paint is you have to be sure to be even and watch the drips.
  • I used spray paint and I think I did 2 or 3 coats.  it turned out great!
