Chris Mastalia Photography

I was wondering if anyone here can give me some reviews on him. I think a few people on here used him and liked him in the past, but I wanted to make sure :)  We are considering using him and I just wanted some feedback since I dont know anyone personally that used him.

Thanks!

I used him and love my pictures.  He's really laid back and just goes with the flow.

Ok great- I think you were the person I was thinking of that used him. Did you have just him or 2 photographers? Did you like your album? He mentioned showing up 3 hours before the ceremony, did he do that w/ you? Did you think all that time was needed?

I did not use him, but he has always got great reviews here on the boards.   When I first joined the Knot, many girls used him and their pics were all great.

We had a 2nd photographer. He was great too. I don't know his last name, but he was really fun the day of too.  I haven't even started to pick out pictures for our album, so I can't speak to that yet.  He showed up EARLY for us because we wanted to do pictures before the ceremony.  So I believe he was there around 11, we took some quick getting ready shots, and then we headed to a park for our "first glance" and other pictures.  He stayed through till the end of the reception as well.

I honestly would take those three hours.  We could have used more time probably.  You'll do all your shots with your BMs. He'll do photos with your fiance and his groomsmen.  Possibly do some family shots.  Get all those out of the way so that if you're doing pictures after the ceremony that you only have to do you and your fiance, the whole bridal party shots, and some quick family ones.  That way you can get to your cocktail hour!  That and they'll do all the detail shots...bouquets, jewelery, invitation, etc....before hand

My concern is I dont want to see my fiance before the ceremony and we have tons of time since the church is around 2 and the cocktail hour starts at 6, which is why I thought 3 hrs early was a lot, but I really have no idea :) haha

Ya, I figured you weren't doing pics before. I honestly would still take the 3 hours.  Are you getting your hair/makeup done at the hotel? If so, he'll take pics of that, etc.  Again, I wish we had more time as there are definitely some pics we didn't get because we were kinda in a rush and I forgot to ask for them, etc.

I will be getting married at my parents house by the church and then we will all go to the hotel later. My concern is I may do my own hair/makeup so I didnt want to be rushed w/ that. But I guess since I have more than a year to decide this isnt a big deal haha :) Im just having so much trouble deciding on a photographer!

Discuss your time concerns with him. He'll be able to explain better what he needs/wants the time for.  He will accomodate you if you don't want that much time.

I don't know Chris, we went with a different photographer, but I also want to do portraits after.  I think 3 hours is too much.  I want to be able to enjoy my morning with friends and family.  While my photographer seems like a great laid-back guy, things just aren't the same when you have someone who is essentially a stranger buzzing around.
