  My mom got hers at Macy's - I think the designer was Adriana Pappel (sp?). It had a layered look with a rosette. MIL got hers from Saks and from Alessandra's (where I got my dress). Alessandra's had a nice selection w/o a ton of beading and they did a lot of alteration work to change the style for her - she looked fabulous! Her other dress from Saks was a Tadashi Shoji (love that designer!) and didn't require any alterations. Does your mom have a price point? Marguerite Boutique seems to have very nice dresses (but I think they cost $1k +). The store is in West Bloomfield. My friends mother and MIL got their dresses there for her wedding.

  my mom didnt like the typical mother of the bride dress, so she got a bridesmaid one with a matching jacket from i do too in plymouth.

  Clothing Cove in Milford and Alzain in West Bloomfield both had good selections. They weren't the frumpy MOB dresses.

  My mom found her dress at the Macy's bridal salon at Somerset.  It's by Demetrios and is pretty simple, which is what she wanted.  It's this dress, but in a jewel-toned blue:

  FMIL found her dress at Nordstrom at Somerset.  I haven't seen it yet, but I think she went with more of a traditional taffeta dress/jacket combo

  I second Clothing Cove in Milford.  My mom's in love with that store, and they have a huge amount of MOB dresses.
