Monona Terrace Wedding

My fiance and I have choosen the Monona Terrace Rooftop in Madison for the site of our ceremony.  I'm just wondering if there are any other brides out there that have been to a wedding there.  Do you have any suggestions to what you liked about it and what you would change?

I had my wedding and reception there.  It was beautiful.  We had a perfect 69 degree sunny October day.  It can be extremely windy on the roof - so keep that in mind before picking a cathedral length veil :)

Do you have a back-up rain location?  If you also have your recpetion there, the rain back-up room is free.  That might be worth looking into.  We loved the community terrace room for the reception since you can have the dinner and dance in the same room (not possible with the main/larger lake front room).  It was also on it's own level, so there weren't other parties around.

They do a great job coordinating, but you don't get to meet with that person until 3 months before the wedding.  They will answer emails in a prompt fashion.

They thought of lots of details for me (had water station on the roof, signs for locations, timing of events, etc).

The food is really hit or miss.  Go to the tasting and try everything.  We ended up with a great meal, apps, and a late night snack...  but we ate some horrific things to get there (I'm not a picky eater and I spit something out).

They sort of nickle and dime you for things.  The outdoor space comes with a microphone and speaker... but they tell you you need an extra speaker for the amount of space.  Although it also comes with the chairs and their setup and tear down, which is very nice.
You have to rent the dance floor for the reception room too.
There is a cake cutting fee, but we found that the cost of Carl's Cake +fee was still a little less than having their cake.  You cannot bring in cupcakes, just a tiered cake.

I'll send you a PM with a few pics.

ehathewa - I was curious, we are planning a mid-oct wedding reception in the Community Terrace room there. Since you had your reception in the same room, did you have much of a view of the lake once it got dark.  Our reception will start about 5:00,  which in Oct doesn't leave a whole lot of daylight?

I've never been to a wedding there either so I too am curious what other bride's experiences are.

    Thanks!

There was a nice view durring out cocktail hour (5-6) and then durring dinner, maybe until 7(?) or so.  After that it was dark, but we dancing for most of the time after that.
Our wedding was outside at 4:30 on the roof.  That had a great view and our weather cooperated nicely... 69 and sunny!

EDIT:  This website has sunrise/set times.  http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=142 It isn't "dark" right at sun-set.
