help for an old knottie :)

Hello.  I am now a WCF Nestie, but I am coming back to the knot for some help.  I have a friend who is wanting a destination wedding, and I told her that I'd help find a location, but now I don't really know where to begin.  So I was wondering if any of you had/are having destination weddings and can offer any suggestions.  I have also posted on the destination wedding board, but wanted to try here as well.  She would like something over-looking a beach, but not on the beach (but IDK if this is a must).  She doesn't care where, as long as it's a safe area of course.  Ideas? Thanks!

I am having a destination wedding and wanted to be outside (otherwise what was the point in traveling to FL?) But I didn't want a sandy beach wedding because I just couldn't get married without heels!  We are getting married at the Crosley Mansion for an intimate wedding outside.  It overlools the ocean and is absolutley beautiful.  Its in Sarasota.  Good: Beautiful, safe, private, convenient to OOT guests.  Not so great: pricey. (IMO)  I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else!

If she decides to be on the beach, there are few great places, such as Anna Maria Island, or Longboat Key club. You can throw a stone around here and it will lend on the beach LOL
I will agree on Crosley or even Selby gardens, beautiful places.
    Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas.  These are all beautiful places and I have mentioned them all to her, but she wants something OOT and these places are not far enough away for her.

What about Sanibel Island? I believe both South Seas and Casa Ybel have sites over looking the beach but not on it. Sundial Resort out there also has a lawn ceremony site. I have also been to really nice weddings on Amelia Island near Jacksonville which is absolutely beautiful. If she's willing to go to southern Georgia, Jekyll Island Club is on the water but their ceremony areas are lawns. Stunning place for weddings. Good luck!

Key West , St. George Island, and suprisingly even Cancun are affordable place for destination overlooking beach locations.
