Nova Scotia

I came across Nova Scotia randomly and based on what I've seen so far, it's perfect for our honeymoon. We'll be honeymooning the last week of Sept for about a week. I'm most interested in Cape Breton. It looks beautiful with hiking and trails all around plus you can't go wrong with the beach. Has anyone stayed there? Any recommendations on where to stay? And getting around? I know we'll definitely need to rent a car, but is driving easy there?

Re: Nova Scotia

  • Oh whoops! Budget might help you!! Around 1200 for accommodation. Our initial budget was 2000 total but fiance is ok with going over that a bit. I've found some great places on homeaway that we might just go with but I'm not sure yet. And wondering if there are any especially great places to eat or something we shouldn't miss while we're there? We're into anything outdoors, pretty chill couple. Just enjoy hanging out mostly. Beach time, hikes, views. Though the fiance does love a thrill every now and then.
  • I would suggest checking out the local Nova Scotia or Cape Breton board on Tripadvisor, snce you will get answers from locals.   Nova Scotia is beautiful, and I hope you have a wonderful time. I haven't been to Cape Breton, but have heard wonderful things. I have been to halifax and I had a great time. The people are so friendly.
  • We travel to Nova Scotia (from CT) every summer. We *love* it there. My FI's grandmother is from the area, so we visit with family and spend lots of time on the beach. We go to a different area of NS. It's easy to drive there - usually the roads are pretty empty in the area we stay. My FI's parents rent a house, so I'm not sure about where to stay. I just wanted to let you know you picked a wonderful destination! It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
