I guess I've lead a pretty sheltered life for the most part. Up until this last January, I hadn't really had any experiences with death, or unexpected death at least. But the night before I was supposed to come back to school after our semester break, a friend's dad called me and told me my friend (his son) had died in his sleep the night before. Dealing with that loss has been impactful to say the least.

This is an old picture, probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 or 9 years old. The reason I'm using an old picture for a recent thing that has affected my life is because this is one of the last pictures I have of my grandparents together (my younger brother is on the right). My grandfather passed away in 2004 and since then my grandma has gone very downhill (as I have mentioned in past posts). While it hasn't had the same impact on me as my family that deals with her on a regular basis, it has affected things a lot, particularly when she broke her hip last weekend. Also, in the wedding planning I have been doing a lot of thinking about my grandparents and have been sad that none of them will be able to be there, and recently missing both my grandparents a lot.

FI and I are moving to Arkansas very soon and it's already impacting my family a lot. My grandma is my favorite (and I'm hers) and she's really starting to get sad by it. My sister feels like I'm leaving her, even though she knows that's not my intention, and my mom says she's come to terms with it but who konws. I'm excited, and they're excited for me - it's just hard!!
