too expensive?

I have already registered for some everyday dishes that are pretty moderately priced. I'd really like to register for a nice set of dishes, too (I love throwing little dinner parties), but all the sets are between 110.00 and 140.00. I'd have to register for two sets. Is it okay to do so, or is it rude to register for two things that expensive?

Re: too expensive?

  • I have at least 3 items on each of my registries that are over $125 per item.  I think as long as you have a wide range of price points, it's fine to have a few items on the more expensive side of things.
  • What do you mean you'd have to register for 2 sets?  Are you talking about the kind that has 4 place settings in a box, and you would want 8 place settings?

Plenty of people register for china where each place setting is in that price range.  It really depends on your guests and their situation, but if you want it then you should register for it.  Even if it's too much for one person, some people might go in as a group to get it for you.

  • Yes, it is four settings in each "set", so I would need two settings to set a table for enough people for a dinner party.
I only have two items so far that are over 100.00 and quite a few that are around 50.
I just decided to look at the fine china patters.. :) thanks!
  • I don't think that's expensive at all for 8 place settings. I think that seems about right, and it's something I'd definitely consider getting for a friend (most likely as a group gift).
  • Like quote said many people register for fine china and everyday dishes, as long as you have plenty of price points, its fine to register for both.

  • You can register pretty much for whatever you want. Now is the time to register for fine china if that is what you want. People will buy what they can afford. It is good that you have multiple price points on your registry.
