I just checked the DOE website and it says a name change on a currently valid certificate is $20. Whew.

    Wow, I was totally wrong on that one!!!  I thought when they raised their prices way up they were going to be taking all they could get out of us!!  How awesome!!  Thanks for the info!!!  =)

    Jmucheech, I found that on a DOE paged dated from 2008, but I didn't see anything else, so I hope it's still accurate.

    One more week til Spring Break and then I make the official name change. I'll let you all know what happens when I try.

    I didn't even think about this... I still have 11 months to worry about about that though :) Are any of you getting married during the school year? I am in March and was wondering if I should have my kids call me by my maiden name (what they'll be used to) or try to get them to call me by my married name. The next school year will be no problem, since the new kids will start off calling me by my married name. What are you guys planning on doing?

    I teach for FLVS, so it's always the school year for me. Do you teach primary or secondary? Older kids will likely want to know your new name and try to call you by your new name. With younger kids, I would probably just let them continue calling you by your maiden name and start fresh with next year's crop.

    Oh I would love to teach for FLVS! I teach 5th grade at a magnet school. I'll probably give them the option to call me which ever they'd like and then with my new class the next year, start off fresh with my married name.
