Wedding Woes

WWWWD?

Work is full of people with attitudes lately, and it's wearing thin.  Remember New Boss?  He's going to be in the office starting next week.  Which is a short week due to the holiday.  Old Boss's Boss sent out a broadcast email to everyone who is supposed to meet with New Boss asking us to tell Admin how much time we think we'll need with New Boss.  I replied to Admin and copied Old Boss's Boss saying that 30-45 minutes would be ideal.

I got an email just now from Admin saying "You're scheduled to meet with New Boss on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:15 in Conf Rm. A."  I replied and said, "Unfortunately, I'll be out of the office Wednesday.  How about Monday or Tuesday?"  To which Admin replied with another time slot late Tuesday afternoon and added "I wish I would have known that yesterday before I sent this to New Boss for review."  Depending on the person, this could possibly be an innocent comment, but she's a mousy, frumpy, snotty little thing, so I am reading it in her usual huffy tone.

    I went with #3 because that's mood I'm in.

But from an HR standpoint, #2 is probably the better way to go.

Does she have access to your vacation/time off schedule?  If so she could have looked.  On the other hand you knew you were going to be out and she was trying to schedule things.  You could have mentioned it sooner.

Her response was uncalled for, but the whole thing could have been avoided.

6, that was the only thing that gave me pause:  the email only asked how much time we would need, not when we were available, and I didn't even think he would be here Wed. because hardly anyone else will be.  So I didn't think to tell admin I would be out Wed. and that's on me.  Had anyone asked, I would have told them, but once I told Old Boss (when he was still my boss) I was taking that day off, I haven't even thought of it as a work day.

She doesn't have access to my Outlook calendar, so she would have had to check whatever system we have that keeps track of who has scheduled which days off.

Then it sounds like it's a little bit of both your faults, but she was bitchy in her reply.  Don't continue it.

Even if she doesn't have access to your outlook calendar she could have still used the new meeting request tab and seen that you were not available (but not why). It annoys me to no end that people don't know how to use that feature.
