Caesar salad?

FI and I went to our tasting last night.  The food was fabulous.  However, the salad selection was less than stellar.  The mixed greens salad had a maple dressing.  We both hated it.  The other option was a caesar salad that was just average.  I personally love caesar salads, but I know not everyone does.  Would you or have you selected caesar salad as your salad? Or should we try to work it out with the venue to get a mixed greens salad with a different dressing?

I don't like caesar salad.  I don't really like cheese on my salad except for cubes of hard cheese (if I'm in the right mood), I don't like the dressing, and I don't like anchovies.  I would push for a mixed green salad with a different dressing.

I don't think a Ceasar Salad is crazy.  Go for it if you like it.

No matter what you choose, someone won't like it.  Go for something that will make most of your guests happy.

I wouldn't eat a ceasar salad, and it seems like most of the people I know are not big fans.  I would think about your closest family/friends and what their tastes are.  But I personally would prefer a greens salad.  Just ask for a different dressing.  You could always do a more simple balsamic thats a little more of a crowd pleaser.

I love caesar salad!  LOVE it...but if the one you tried tonight was just ok, I would see if you could get a different dressing for the green salad.  Maple dressing sounds like a bad idea!

Wow I am stunned to hear PPs don't like caesar. I've never met anyone who doesn't like GOOD caesar (I mean, crappy caesar sucks) but most of the people I know like it. How odd.

I'm not a huge fan of Caesar salad, but I'd eat it if you served it to me and I was hungry. But I also don't think I'd like a maple dressing-- given the options, I'd go with Caesar. Can they do a simple balsamic? That's usually a safe bet.

I would of had selected the mixed greens and then sampled some different dressings.

    Yes, exactly.

Thanks for the feedback ladies! I'm going to talk to the venue about serving an alternative dressing.  I agree that mixed greens is the safer choice.

I'm serving Caesar because I like it. I hate mixed greens, haha.

That being said, if you'd prefer the mixed greens, I'd see if I could get it with a different dressing!

Are you limited to only one dressing? I would see if you could do the mixed greens and a few different types of dressings that the guests could put on their salads themselves.
