October 2012 Weddings

Are you buying a coat/wrap?

The fall in some areas can get chilly and I was wondering if any of you brides were purchasing a cover-up?

I'm hoping to do a cocktail hour outdoors and there may not be heating lamps if it's tolerable.  The wedding is 10/20 and I'm debating about what would go well with an ivory satin gown.  Hmmm...

I'm actually hoping its pretty chilly.  I would much rather be too cool during pictures, instead of warm and borderline sweaty.

ETA: My ceremony and reception are also both indoors, so I know this makes a difference.

  • I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's nice, but kind of hoping the same as you, CarolineandDean (not cute to be sweating on the wedding day)
But my date is 10/6, so I'm hoping it'll still be nice. Ceremony is outside, but reception is inside
  • My wedding is 10/21 and my cocktail hour will also be outdoors (weather pending).  I was thinking purchasing a nice wrap or shall just in case it's chilly.  I'm thinking of getting it to match my bridesmaids dresses.

  • Getting married the same day, reception outdoors, but hadn't thought about needing a wrap/ coat.

  • I'm hoping for sunny but on the cooler side, ideally.

I've purchased a fur stole more for pictures and because it fits in with the look we're trying to achieve than warmth but it will help keep me warm should it be very cool.

  • I've thought about getting something, but have no idea what.  I'm hoping if I need it, I can just get it last minute.

  • I am in Florida, I think I will be okay.

  • I wasn't planning on buying a coat or wrap.  My wedding is 10/19; based on the weather last year compared to this year so far, I'm guessing it will still be nice here in October.  Everything is indoors, but my reception venue has an outdoor area that we could use - and I'd love to take advantage.
  • We're doing an outside ceremony/cocktail hour for our Oct 13 wedding in Indianapolis (where I've seen 80 degrees AND 35 degrees in October, so it's kind of a crap shoot), and I bought a lace jacket to wear over my dress. I don't know how warm it'll make it, but I really like how they look together.

  • I'm not buying anything and both ceremony and reception are outside on Oct. 13th in TN. I figured that I get warm really easily and once pictures are done and stuff, if I start to get cold I'll either 1) dance or 2) get David's jacket...lol

  • I bought an ivory satin bolero through etsy. I think the store is alexa bridal. I don't think it'll do too much in terms of keeping me warm if the weather is very cool, but it'll help a little. Could be worth checking out. Mine was $44-- not too terribly bad.

  • My wedding is October 13th in NY. I did buy a ivory faux fur wrap for my self and beige faux fur wraps for the BMs. There is a possibility that it will be chilly, but since it's been so hot on the East Coast I am unsure what the weather will be like up there.

  • I was originally planning to. Then in late Feb/early March we went on a trip thru Vienna, Venice and Rome, and didn't pack for warm weather and Rome was hot. I ended up buying a scarf off of a gypsy to keep heat out of my face that I now plan to use as my wrap at the wedding. Gypsies are brilliant, it works for warmth and cool.  Plus it's mostly blue with an awesome gold tapestry design, so matches us very well. I'm actually quite excited about leaving photos with it :P
  • I'm using a (real) fur stole as my "something borrowed" from my fiance's grandmother. I'm in Northern Californa and most everything is outside, including dinner (with heatlamps). I might actually be a bit too warm, but it's a lovely vintage piece and I can't wait to wear it.
