CAKE & FLOWERS

Hello! My fiance and I are getting married July 2012.
I am still searching for a florist and a baker.

For flowers, I'm wanting to stay between $700-$1000
- 1 bridal bouqet, 5 BM bouqets, 13 bouts, 2 child bouts, and 7 corsages
- possible centerpiece arrangements
For cake, I'm looking to go around $1.00-$1.50 per slice
- 2 tiered (simple, elegant) cake and sheet cake for 200 guests

Thanks for the recommendations! Any help is appreciated :)

Re: CAKE & FLOWERS

  • The cake might be a little hard to get it in that budget. I know at HyVee I was quoted around $2 a slice for a basic buttercream frosting.

I don't know much about flowers so I can't help you with that but it seems like your budget is a bit on the small size for all the flowers you need. My best friend got her flowers from HyVee and they were gorgeous but I have no idea what they charged her.

  • If you get both cake and flowers from HyVee they give you a discount on both. I think it is 10% off.
  • Contact Dustin at Creating Atmosphere.  His work and design ideas are amazing! What I need for my May 2012 wedding is very similiar to what you need.  I am getting lighting and a few more additional items and am right around 1600. Give Dustin your budget and he will make your dreams a reality within your budget.  I have been very happy!  You can find Creating Atmosphere on Facebook.

I'm not much help with cake as I am going with Ameristar where I am having the wedding and reception.

    Good Luck!

  • We are getting our cake at Super Saver and spending 200 for 200 slices. We are getting sheet cake for half of the slices because it's so much less expensive and the exact same cake!
As far a flowers, I don't know how you feel about fake flowers but I bought all my flowers at Hobby Lobby (I spent the extra on the higher quality, more realistic looking ones but got everything for half off) I spent like 135 for all of them and put them together myself!
  • we are going with blooms and bouquets and couldn't be happier--Melissa has been extremely accommodating with us! For cake, we are going with my sister in law.
  • I would definitely check to see if Fleur De Lis Concepts is accepting new clients for 2012 (I know at one point in 2011 she stopped accepting clients due to the large influx of clients she was receiving because her work is so phenomenal!), as she does AMAZING work and noone can beat her prices. I got all of my flowers for the wedding for about $300.

    Here is her website: www.fleurdelisconcepts.com/

And then for cake I just mentioned her on another post, but I just planned my little cousin's Sweet 16 this past October and used Melanie from Mel's Sweet Treats, and her cake was PHENOMENAL. Cake Gallery definitely has some competition in town, because her cake was amazing. The taste, the decorations, everything. She did cupcakes as well, and they were also amazing.

Here is a link to her FB:

Hope that helps! Good luck with your planning! =]
