Think I am going to change Islands!

OK, I am having a lot more hope now that I am shopping Maui as our island. I really like Mama's Fish house, and I am waiting for them to get back to me. But, from what I am reading you have to have a fairly small party. I am anticipating about 35-55 people. So, I don't want to worry about that. I just came across Mulligan's on the Blue. (BTW, my FI helped brainstorm yesterday and he wants more of the restaurant venue then the private estate. He thinks it would just be easier and more enjoyable for us.) Does anyone know of anyone that had both the ceremony and reception at Mulligan's on The Blue? TIA!!

My sister had her reception dinner at Mulligan's. The food was really yummy. The service was pretty good. Our party was about 12 people. They had a band playing. It was a really fun vibe.

That's the Irish pub one, right? I think several girls (back in the day now, I guess) used it for their rehearsal dinner site.

A few girls have used Five Palms for their reception/dinner with good reviews. That's in Kihei. Gannon's and Merriman's are two more popular venues. I haven't been to it, nor have we had anyone here married there, but Pacific'O is an option too.

I'm getting married at Mama's. You do have to have a smaller wedding if you plan on doing your reception there. We will only have 21 ppl so it worked great for us.

I think I read that five palms has a pretty high food and beverage minimum. Plus at Mulligans you get their live entertainment, and they stay open pretty late. I think it might work for us. I just wish they would get back to me. Some of these places are so slow at replying.

Do you know what the max is a Mama's?

The boys went to Mulligan's for lunch & drinks after golf the day before our wedding. They said it was tasty & pretty laid back. Sounds like it could be a really nice option for the vibe you're looking for!

Get used to "island time" though -- it has been a source of frustration for many, especially some of us TYPE A ZOMGIMPATIENT types like yours truly,

The minimum at Five Palms only applies if you're using the entire outside seating area. You might be surprised to learn that you'll get close to that number with 35-55 ppl. We had 29 guests indoors (not taking up the whole outdoors area), so we didn't have a minimum, and they opened the windows so we had a beautiful ocean view/breeze even indoors.<div>
</div><div>We also considered Mulligan's, and only decided to go with Five Palms because we wanted to be on the water, and we wanted a more Hawaiian feel in the location. But from what I can tell, you can be happy in either location.</div><div>
</div><div>p.s. We found the choosing a restaurant venue made for an extremely easy planning process. We made a few aesthetic choices, and they took care of everything else for us. I'm really glad we went that route.</div>

</div><div>Just remember that there are tradeoffs to everything. Five Palms is right on the water and an adjacent beach, but it's also in the ground floor of a large condo building (right next to other condo buildings), which means that the grassy area they let you use as a ceremony location for a nominal fee is pretty open to the condo's pool and to people walking nearby. Not saying you can't have a great wedding there, but it's something to consider. We ended up going with a beach wedding at a small beach further south in Makena because we wanted a more private ceremony location, but then we added some logistical issues (travel), and needed a beach permit, etc. Tradeoffs.</div><div>
</div><div>Mulligan's is uphill from the water, but it looks like it has a great sunset view and a more private ceremony location (in that it's not right in front of a condo building and its pool). On the other hand, it's not on the water. Again, tradeoffs.</div><div>
