St paul college club/Great hall/Varsity theater

Hi!
 I post here and there..
I am wondering about the st.paul college club  http://stpaulcollegeclub.com/
Any thoughts? is it good to do wedding receptions run smooth? Any extra un mentioned costs? Food good? Thoughts!?
Another place we are intrusted in is Great hall and  Varsity theater but they have yet to get email us back and been 2-3 weeks! Have not a good feeling of that  http://www.varsitytheater.org/

Wanting a victorianvintage feel and i believe we could make it like that! Looked into others but they want high HIGH rental fees and not willing to pay them. ( I know the great halls rental fee is kinda high but weighing out a cater..)
Like harriet island also..but thats in the back of my mind too...

Trying to limit my long list....

 Thanks so much!

I've been to a wedding among other events at the varsity and it pretty much rocks! such a cool venue. But wouldn't peg it as Victorian as other places. If you have not already, look into 490 Summit in Saint Paul. Nice and Victorian not far from Saint Paul CC.

I went to a wedding at the St. Paul college club and it was beautiful!! The food was amazing too.
490 Summit is remodeling their kitchen this fall- we looked into it for our wedding this weekend.
If you're thinking of going the mansion route, check out Summit Manor. It's down the street from 490 Summit, and is pretty reasonable compared to other mansions. Plus there is so much included that even if the rental fee looks high, remember that many hidden fees that other sites may charge (i.e. cake cutting fee) are included. And they do simple centerpieces for you for free!

My reception was a year ago at the Varsity and I absolutely loved it there. However, it's more of a funky vintage vibe than classic Victorian. Think more like "Moulin Rouge" - red velvet walls, a whimisical feel.

The pricing on The Varsity website is pretty straightforward and accurate. We paid $99 per adult (kids eat free) (rental fee + food + open beer/wine all night + misc stuff + svc fee & taxes) for our reception. Obviously your cost could be less based on how you work your food options (apps vs. dinner) and bar. The food at the Varsity is fan-freakin-tastic. All the catering is done by the Loring Pasta Bar.

I can't believe you have been married a year, Beka! I just started posting right when you got married so it is crazy that it has been that long. And you are getting so close to baby time! :)

<div>I know! To both! It doesn't feel like it's been a year, yet the proof of time flying is currently kicking me in the abdomen. Amen to baby time being near - it's like I swallowed a 5 lb soccer ball! </div>

My old roommate had her reception at the Great Hall and she said that the open catering definitely outweighed the initially high rental fee!  She and her husband had invited a lot of people, so needed the higher capacity.

Another cool, older place in St. Paul is the Historic Concord Exchange!  I saw pictures of an old classmate's wedding there and it was gorgeous.  http://www.historicconcordexchange.com/

    Thanks everyone!
  • Hi, came across this posting (since I was checking out 490 Summit), definitely closed. Where did you end up choosing your wedding spot?? Was Varsity good about responding (prolly not?)?
    thanks!
