Needing Recommendations for Photographer and DJ

Well, I have officially booked my reception and ceremony locations.  Now, I am trying to figure out the other biggies like photographer and DJ.  I was just wondering if anyone had any personal recommendations.  I have checked out the vendors listed on this website.  Just thought I would go with first hand experiences too!  We are having the wedding in Blue Springs.  I am wanting to spend under $2000 for the photographer and not sure what a decent rate is for a DJ.  Anyone have any idea what yours is costing? 

Here are two of the names I was giving, wondering if anyone knows much about these vendors: 

Photographer- Expressions Photography in Lee's Summit

DJ- PartySounds KC

    Photography- we are using Clashing Collaborations (913)406-4360. They are a husband and wife team and seem to be really nice and highly recommended. However our wedding isn't until next year... we are looking at $150 an hour but that includes all our pictures on a CD with copyright releases, that is a huge plus for us!

    Photography - I am using Reflections Photography out of Olathe. They have several packages and Sue Evins(the owner) is great to work with. She switched out a signature board for an extra hour in time. She is reasonable and makes sure you are happy. Her daughter is getting married soon and she can make a lot of recommendations. I get my photos on a cd with copyright releases. Sue's number is 913-782-3472.

    DJ - I am using Premier Midwest. I have heard and read great things from them on projectwedding.com. They are always very helpful when I call them. I paid $495 for 5 hours with lights and everything for them. I like that I get to know my dj prior to the wedding instead of waiting to the week of.

     love my photographer...but she recently raised rates so i think she is above ur 2000.  Her name is Sarah Dickerson though if you want to check her out

    My dj is Debbyz...i'm not sure i'd rec her or not.  I've had a hard time getting in contact with her.  It took forever to get me my contract...she said she mailed it but i never got it.  Eventually she e-mailed me.

    I'm using Monika Herbert with Monphotography for my photog.  She's around the range you're looking at, depending on which package you go with.

    FI is taking care of DJs so I'm no help there.

    Our DJ is Dave Pyle and his number is 913-963-9616.  My fiance was in charge of that part of it, so I haven't even met him.  But he has always responded quickly to our questions and seems great so far!  Wedding in 16 days...after that I can let you know how it went!

    We used Terri Voyles for photography and she was fantastic!  SHe is def. under 2k. 
    Love her!  Just got our album from her, and I am in love with all of the pics!

    Our dj was Jason with Debby Z.  He was phenomenal!  He was really great to work with.  You only deal with Debby when you sign and return the contract.  All planning is with the dj you get(I'd request Jason).  HTH!

    We used Borozinski Photography. They are really cool! A husband/wife team who were really laid back. I think their packages start around 1,000?? Definitely worth looking into though.. We couldn't be happier with our photos.
