  I think if the wedding is casual and it doesn't fit into your budget to have real china then plastic will be OK. As long as it is sturdy, decent plastic. If you can work the budget to make the china fit into it, then I would of course prefer it but it is not necessary if it is a casual wedding.

  Totally up to you. As a guest, I don't think about the plates except: 1) If they're disposable and I can't find a trash can 2) If they're china and one gets dropped and breaks.

  If you end up using plastic utensils, I have seen some that look very much like real silverware and actually fool people until you pick them up.

  If your wedding is very casual, heavy duty plastic should be fine.  However, if you are going for a more elegant feel, china would be a better choice.

  I was fine using nice plastic but my husband (now) insisted that the china looked better. We rented it from a place that was not our caterer and saved a bunch. The look was classier, but there was some hassle with the rental place.
