Help! Maid of Honour won't buy dress

I need advice, my moh seems to have no concern about getting her dress because she can't afford it at the moment. She speaks like she will never have money to buy a dress. My wedding is  5 months and two weeks away. Should I worry about her not having a dress yet? How much time should I give to have her dress ordered and altered? What can I do to encourage her more on the importance of getting the dress and figuring out a way to do it?

    Let her know the absolute last day to purchase her dress.  If she does not purchase it by that date, she's removed herself as your MOH.  Don't try to pressure her too much at this point, she's an adult and just communicate the deadline.

    Ditto Sparkly.  Is the dress in line with her budget?  If it's not, that's a bigger deal; you should have asked and now you probably need to decide what's more important - the dress or the MOH.  If the MOH is more important, then you could ask her to get a different dress, one that she can afford.  You can ask for the same color and length as the other dress, but let her pick something easier on her wallet.  If the dress is more important, you can buy it for her youself, without expecting repayment.

    If it is within her budget, like PP said, the best you can do is let her know when she absolutely has to order the dress by, what the rush fees would be, and let her decide if she's going to order it.  You could still order the dress for her, but you'd still be taking the risk that you are going to buy the dress out of your pocket and not see any repayment

    I know your plight.  I had a bridesmaid that wouldn't order her dress.  I asked everyone's budget and kept it well under what was agreed upon.  But the maid that was dragging her feet had to have some encouragement.  So I went to her house and called the bridal shop for her so that she could order right then and there.  I only resorted to this after I gave a deadline for ordering and it came and went.  But in your case your MOH is saying she cant afford the dress, like some of the other posters said, see if there is another dress that is more in her budget, try splitting the cost of the dress or even just pay for the dress yourself.  Also I would call the shop where you ordered the dresses and get a last day to order so that they come in with enough time to have alterations done.  Good luck!!!

    If you're using David's Bridal- It didn't even take two months for my wedding dress to come in. Most of my bridesmaids actually were able to walk out of the store with a dress. It doesn't take as long as they tell you. 

    Also, if she really can't afford it, it would be lovely and considerate of you to help her out. Especially since you should have gotten a budget before choosing a dress.

    Thanks ladies, only thing is we have no salon or dress yet at all. Due to not wanting to spend money she won't go out to look for something. Should I perhaps look myself and find prices?
