Wedding Wednesday

I'm getting bad about this. Sorry. What'd y'all get done last week? What's in the works for this week?

Re: Wedding Wednesday

  • Last week we met with the priest for our first pre-marital counseling session and started working out details of the ceremony with him.
This week so far we've registered for our engaged couples retreat (the the Catholic church is requiring before we get married) and we are currently working on ordering invitations. I'm also working on narrowing down a hairstyle for the wedding.
Still SO much to do. I can't believe I'm only 5 months out! :X

  • I lined up a hairdresser and make-up artist and will schedule trials for the spring.  We have our tasting tomorrow evening, super excited about that since I've heard excellent reviews on their food.  My parents will also be seeing our venue for the first time when they go to the tasting.  We also get to take home some cake as well.  We are getting close on invitations, have it narrowed done to 5 from the 20+ samples we have.
  • We have our food tasting coming up this Saturday, yay! I also just called the seamstress who I want to use for alterations, she was really sweet and said to call back in the end of February/beginning of March to set up the first appointment.

    Good Afternoon,

I set up my Alterations appointment for March
Working on finding the hotel room for the night of.
and working on the invitation wording, I think I am happy with what we worked with .

oh and contacting a caterer to see if its better than the one the venue provides.

I think this is the first I have started doing stuff since last year. This is nice.

  • Last week was spent searching for a rabbi or cantor to co-officiate our ceremony. Out of the 5 that I contacted only ONE rabbi is willing to do it. He sounds really friendly and the testimonials on his website from other couples are all raves. We made an appointment to meet with him next week.

Then, we spoke with our cantor Friday night after Shabbat services and were pleasantly surprised that he is considering it... We would LOVE that! He said his hesitation is only that he's never co-officiated an interfaith ceremony before, but that he feels he may be up for the challenge. Hopefully he will agree, we would really be happiest with someone we know from our temple, rather than hiring a stranger. Fingers crossed!

This week I have an appointment (on Saturday) with a rental company to look at linens. I'm really excited because this will help me finalize my floral and stationary selections.

Next week we are attending our venue's seasonal tasting event! We are both super excited about this! Reviews for their caterer are wonderful and I can't wait to finalize our menu.

I've also been getting texts from out of town family members who are planning their trips out here, VERY exciting!

  • Spoke with a new DJ on Monday, now I just have to give him a call back and let him know that everything is good to go.

I did a ton of stuff since the first of the year. I guess seeing 2013 on the calendar really kicked my butt into gear.

I finalized the time of our ceremony and reception with all of our vendors so that I can order invitations soon.
Scheduled our tasting next month and picked the items we want to try.
Finalized our cake flavor with my sister (our baker). We're having a cannoli flavored cake, since it's one of our favorite desserts.
My seamstress called to schedule my first dress fitting this coming Saturday.
I put together the guest list and addresses for my bridal shower and sent them along to one of my sisters.
    Booked our rehearsal dinner venue.
Worked more on our centerpieces, and picked up the supplies to make chandelier style lights to hang from our reception tent.
Oh, and my maid of honor and one of my sisters set up a game plan for my bachelorette party.

I'm really starting to get back in the groove and I hope I can keep my productivity up!!

Edit: Oooh, and we did our Target registry!! Hoping that my fiance recovers enough from the flu so that we can do the Macy's one this weekend.
  • FI and I were both off work today which was nice, I got a ton done! We had to drop a form off at our venue, only to find out that our coordinator had been fired. I know some people would panic, I am totally happy about it though, she just rubbed me a wrong way, and until they have her replacement, the big boss is taking care of us and she was so awesome and helped us try to work on a room plan today and is going to contact us towards the end of the week to let us know the date of our tasting.

I mailed out the rest of our save the dates. I got all of our important ones (OOT guest, bridal party, and all the family) out before the holidays. I just sent out more friends and parents friends today so they are officially all done.

We went to the tux store and finalized all of our choices! I am so excited and FI really likes what we picked out.

We are heading to a travel agent tonight to talk about the honeymoon! Thinking of Jamacia, US Virgin Islands, or Mexico.

  • We registered over the weekend, which was fun. We have our menu tasting and details meeting with our venue and coordinator on Friday. Then we'll be ordering invitations. And my dress came in today, so I plan on trying it on on Tuesday.

  • Nothing....haha! But just wait, next week I am going to shock all of you (and myself) with what I accomplished. I did make my daughter's last tuition payment for this year. And was relieved to see I still have money left. Only 2 more years to go. Then I am going to start saving for her wedding!

  • Starting to get back in the groove.  I'm going to a wedding faire on Sunday so hopefully I will finalize my florist, photographer and DJ.  I still need to pick a bakery and find a priest/minister to marry us too.  I'm set with my bridal party for their dress shopping on the 3rd so am looking forward to that and we have our menu tasting next weekend.  FI and I will hopefully register by the end of the month.  Its kinda wedding overload right now, so I am trying to spread out the  tasks so its not too much at once.
