Photo Shoot Locations in Basking Ridge?

Hi Ladies -

I'm getting married at the Olde Mill Inn and, for those of you familiar with the area, I'm attempting to have some pictures taken across the street at the *real* old mill (Van Dorn Mill). It's so beautiful and just a walk across the street! Unfortunately, I've been having some trouble getting a waiver from them. The owner used to allow wedding parties there for pictures, but now he's much more cautious about it. It's in the works still, but I feel like I need a backup plan...

Basking Ridge is such a beautiful area - any North Jersey brides know of any great photo shoot locations?

How about just the downtown area?  We got married at St. James in BR and took pics downtown before heading to the reception.  I especially wanted some shots in front of Somerset Hills Florist, which is housed in a beautiful historic Colonial home.  I asked for permission and it was readily granted.

    Here are some samples:

Note: this was a week after Halloween, hence the spiders on the roof.  Catherine (the owner of Somerset Hills) offered to take them down, but I thought it added a fun seasonal touch.

Another suggestion:  my photographer really wanted to go to Lyons train station to take pics, but I wanted to get to the venue before it got dark.  We may go back there for our TTD session!

  • WOW!! Gorgeous! Thanks for posting the pics, I appreciate it! And it especially helps because my wedding is the weekend before Halloween this year... :)

  • We took pictures at Watchung Lake- by the circle.  It's about 10 minutes from Basking Ridge.  They came out beautiful.
  • Our friend got married at the olde mill in October, and went to the apple orchard right up the road, and got pictures with all the pumpkins and mums.
  • I know this might sound crazy, but just go for a drive along 202 & 206. Look into Bernards, Bernardsville, Liberty Corner, and Morristown.  That whole area is absolutely beautiful in the fall!
