Pre-ceremony music

How much music should you have before the ceremony?

And is it okay to have a CD for all of that or is it better to have a band?

I suggest having music start 1-1 1/2 hours before your ceremony starts. Some people like to show up crazy early for ceremonies and I don't really know why.  A CD of something nice would be fine.

I think a CD would be fine. But IMO I would start it only a half an hour before the ceremony starts.

Hello! I am a manager of a string quartet in Pa. We always arrive 1 hr before the prelude starts, and typically start 20-40 min prior to when the bride walks down the isle. I am not sure what your budget is, always having a pianist or guitarist or string quartet is much nicer to hear than a recording. But if your budget does not allow for it, a compilation of your favorite songs on a cd would be just fine. Ceremony music could run $500-700. How important is it to you?

Our DJ is playing for 30 minutes before the ceremony starts, which is pretty standard I think.
