  If you have 4 hours with your DJ, I'd probably do either 6-10 or 7-11 for the reception. You could have an hour of cocktails and apps from 5-6 if you did the first time or 6-7 if you did the second. So depending how long your ceremony is, you could get married at 4:00 or 3:30 for the earlier time.

  Ask the DJ what times the weddings they play in April usually start. I wouldn't know how to figure out the "average time" for that would be.  Good luck!

  As a guest I have always hated the downtime between ceremony/dinner/fun dancing so I'm trying to have as little of that as possible. 
  wedding at 5:30 pm, give or take 45 mintues, cocktails/snacks and light music at the reception site (right around the corner) for guests while we take a couple pics together (not seeing each other before ceremony), then supper at 7pm. the traditional reception stuff - first dance, garder toss, dollar dance, blah blah - serious DJ/ dancing from 9-1am.  might be alittle late for supper but it is a TINY town with little else to entertain people during dead times so better to just keep it moving.

  We've decided on ceremony at 4, over at 4:30. Drive time is 20 min so everybody should arrive around 5. Cocktail hour 5-6 and then our first dance at 6, dinner and then cram everything else in before our photographer leaves at 8. There's a patio and yard outside, so the photobooth (5-7) will be perfect with the sunset. While everybody is eating, we'll go outside and take some pictures on the water at sunset for about 30 min. I think it sounds good? What about you?
