RSVP wording

Hi CT brides to be,

I am getting married at Woodwinds in August and I am wondering how to word my RSVP card since guests will have to choose their meal when returning the invitation.  I think I should include some detail about the entree rather than just salmon champagne.  Is it ok to say for more information about entree choices and then refer them to the wedding website. Thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Re: RSVP wording

  • I'm getting married at woodwinds too! In June. For ours we digit chicken piccata, filet mignon (at the time we hadn't decided which one), baked stuffed shrimp and vegetable lasagna. I think our choices are detailed enough because they are pretty standard dishes. What are the other options for your guests?
  • We included with our invitation and RSVP card an "information" card that said something along the lines of:

For more information about accomodations, menu options, and wedding shuttle, please visit our wedding website.

There was a tab for menu options that clearly explained what each dish was, and since we had sample everything, I even included a picture to try to accurately represent what the dish looked like. I'm not sure who took advantage of it, but our options on the RSVP card were: Prime Rib, Grilled Salmon, Chicken, Eggplant Parm, and it took me no time at all to add the Menu page to our wedding website.

    Good luck!
  • If you're doing a pocketfold, you could make one card the reception card, with a little more detail about the menu options.  Otherwise, I'd say you can put it on your website and put at the bottom fo the RSVP card: "For more information, please visit www.janandsteve2012.com" or something, ya know?

  • I actually included the description on the RSVP cards, but I made everything myself, so not sure how you are doing your invitations.  I found that even though I included our website on our save the dates and the wedding invites, a lot of people still didn't go to the website.

  • I agree with the previous posters that info. should go on a website.  From researching this whole planning process, it seems that it's not the "proper etiquette" to list detailed meals on invites/RSVP's.  Who knew?? Now that I go back and look at RSVP cards, that most I ever see is a "chicken/fish/meat/veggie" option.  Good luck!
  • I think mine was worded something like:

    M_____
    __joyfully accepts
    __regretfully declines

Please indicate your meal choices below:
    __Chicken Marsala
__Roasted sirloin with horseradish cream sauce
    __Broiled boston scrod.

I think you should indicate what the main options are for dinner, on the card. I wouldn't personally like it if it only said fish/beef/chicken and refered me to a website. Also, I feel like this may delay getting responses. If I had to go to a webisite and see what my dinner options were, that card is going to sit on my table until I finally remember to check out the webiste. I don't think you need to tell them what every course and side dish is going to be, because there isn't an option.
  • Thanks for the responses ladies.  @Carebear62584 it is mainly the fish option I am concerned about.  The meat and the chicken are self explanatory.  I guess I will fully list the meal on the RSVP and reference it on the wedding website.  Thanks again everyone
