Recommend your sports bra

Brand? Store? I had been using Champion from Target but in the past week or so they haven't been giving good support. What do you use for heavy cardio/running?

Re: Recommend your sports bra

  • I love my Nike ones. I have both bras and tanks with built in sports bras, and love both kinds.
  • It's butt ugly, but it's the single most supportive way to control the girls, short of a corset.

  • I wear underarmour ones and I heart them.  I'm pretty boobular so it takes a lot to hold them in.
  • I've also got an underarmour one that I really like.  It zips in the front, so it's easy to get off when my arms are sore and I'm sticky sweaty icky.  I've got 32G boobs, and it's pretty comfy, things stay put.  I've heard Moving Comfort makes a good one too.
  • I second the Title Nine recommendation. These, however, are my favorite:

Moving Comfort makes great bras. I'm telling you, I can run, jump, whatever in these, and the tatas are stationary. They aren't going ANYWHERE. I think the keys are the wide band and the underwire.

Wow someone actually bustier than me!! 36 DDD and I love love love the front zipper ones.  Then I don't have to break my back.
  • I actually use the Champion ones from Target and find that they work pretty great. What size do you need/ what size do you get? I'm a 40C but I get a medium, getting a smaller size in them is way more supportive. I run in them, so it's pretty heavy cardio.

  • Add another vote for the underarmour zip front.  I could wax poetic for days about how great of a sprots bra this thing is.   The zip front locks everything down in there tight.  Plus, agreed that its so nice not having to wrestle the darn thing off when you're gross and tired.    I wore one out and went and replaced it with the exact same thing.   I LOVE it.

  • DDD and G? I can't even imagine! I've having enough troubles with my C's.

How are the sites return policies if the sports bra doesn't fit correctly? Also where would I find Underarmor? I remember using them when I used to run competitively (but before I had boobs)
  • I think both Title Nine and Moving Comfort have great return policies.

  • I wish I knew. My boobs dont even need a regular bra. I'd just look like a boy in a sports bra.
  • Biogirl, I'm normally a 36C and have the medium sized sports bra. Without going tmi, there's too much up and down action going on with the ones I have.

Hm...so I just used the measurement finder on Moving Comfort and they say I'm a 38 A....not so much...

I'll trade you.  You know how some people cannot see their feet cause of their stomach??  I don't have that issue but I can't see my feet cause of my boobs.  I've been a B cup since I was 9......
  • I didn't know such sized existed. And I think I love the word "boobular."

Yeah, I used to be wearing a 34DD, then went and got a bra fitting at Nordstrom and was told I should be in a 32G.  I was none too pleased about having to buy a new bra wardrobe, cause wow having a bra that really fit right was awesome and it sucked wearing the ill fitting ones.
  • My Underarmour one is a large I think.  I bought it at a Sports Authority store, so I tried a bunch on before buying one.

  • I used to wear 38DD and was never really comfy.  I got properly fitted in a 36DDD the only comfy bras I find are by Cacique and some from La Perla

I think its possible you arent getting the support you used to because you HAVE lost weight. The elasticity will stretch out in time as well. My trainer told me to always get a size down than you need - the band will accomodate a larger size but the support will be better.

I use either nike or champion, and I love them.

<div>I'd give anything to have that be me. I'm happy for you. I make do with a 36 DDD because I can't find 34 F's anywhere. They hurt, my back aches, and I have permanent dents in the top of my shoulders from the straps. They are so stinking heavy that they deform the underwires by the end of the day. (well, ok, part of that is the disparity between my rib cage and chest. The underwires are forced to bend around my ribcage) I know that people will say that it's a grass is greener thing. But, really. I think that idiom only applies to more of the mid-range of this subject. Gals on either of the extreme sides have a legitimate gripe.</div><div>
</div><div>I looked into getting a breast reduction when I was 24 and was running. The surgeon told me it'd be $10,000 cash (insurance wouldn't cover), but that if I wanted to get implants it'd only be $1000. Like I would make them bigger, because it was cheaper. Jerk.</div><div>
</div><div>If anyone here is cursed with a large, heavy chest (and is tall), and has found a company that makes bullet-proof long-line bras that come down past the waist (so they won't roll up), I would truly love to know!</div><div>
</div><div>ETA: I hope that wasn't TMI, I just get kind of bitter about how hard it is to find a bra that actually supports me, instead of just mashing things down.</div>

  • Nordstrom is awesome for handling the extremes of boobage.  I've had great luck with the Chantelle brand.  Off topic from sports bras, but still related.
  • Roxy, i'm the same way. There's no point in me wearing a sports bra. I definitely have the smallest boobs here!

I didn't even think of that Nebb. I'm sure the constant washing probably isn't good for the elastic either.  I'm still using the ones from when I was 15 pounds heavier assuming I hadn't lost enough in the chest to make it worth it. I could see where even a little bit could have a bit impact though.
  • I don't wear one either, sometimes I go topless when I'm running.
