New York Yacht Club in Newport

Anyone know if you can rent out the New York Yacht Club in Newport without being a member of the club?

    I am 99% sure you need to be sponsored by a member.

    Just to make sure.. you don't mean the Newport Yachting Center do you?  I haven't heard of the New York Yacht Club but the Yacting Center you can definately rent and you don't need to be a member.

    You definitely need a sponsor from the club to host a wedding. This is unless they have recently changed their policy as of 2011. I don't think it's too difficult though. If you need a sponsor, you can inquire with the club.

    I actually just called because I hadn't thought of this venue until you mentioned it.
    you need a sponsor. They werent willing to help me find one--I have a feeling a family member is a member but she said they could not 'confirm or deny" any members....so im not sure they will be willing to help you find somene.
