STD Check, Address Question and Wanting to STRANGLE FI

So I know this is a bit close to cut off time, but my STD's have finally arrived! We hope to get them in the mail by this weekend. Half our guests are local with the other half no more than 4 hours away.

So I purchased address labels to use on STDs and invitations. The feel of our wedding is fairly casual and budget conscious. So we aren't hiring a caligrapher. Plus neither FI or I have the best handwriting. So our best bet is to print labels, but return and send. Well I purchased white labels to go on our white envelopes. Now I'm wondering if I should have gotten clear labels. Which would you have chosen, white or clear?

FI just called his mom to double check guest list with her and to get family addresses. During the converstaion, I overhear him say "And let anyone know that we are taking contributions.." I was floored and scolded him for his lack of ettiquette. I know that he was just joking with his mom but I was totally embarassed. What has your FI done lately that has made you see red?

I personally didn't use labels. I read multiple times on the invites board that people think it looks like junk mail and might throw it out. You could try to print the addresses directly on the envelopes, it's what I did. It was a little complicated to get the first one to work, but after that it was smooth sailing.

And don't worry about your Fi, I'm sure he was joking and his mom knows! Fi's been pretty good about wedding planning stuff, but sometimes he just drags his feet on things we have to decide together, because he thinks we have all the time in the world. Boys.

I wrote addresses on labels. I don't think it's a problem. FI has chicken scratch for hand writing so I had to do them all. I went with pink for our wedding colors but I'd go with white personally. We are also having labels made for our invites that our invite company is making for us. I think people take it too seriously. If I saw a nice envelope I wouldn't throw it away thinking it was junk.

I'm sure he's kidding but I'd probably feel the same way. Not wedding related but we are picking paint colors and FI says that even though he's not painting (I am) that he will decide colors. I was not too happy about it. We are going over colors tomorrow because that won't fly lol.

I'm going to print labels. I don't have the best hand writing and FIs is worse. We have red envelope so I am going with clear labels. I'm hoping the black ink shows up okay.

As for the annoying things...I asked FI to look into tux places and he still hasn't. Every time I say something to him he gets annoyed. I think if he hasn't done it in two weeks I am going to call and make an appointment myself.

It really almost comes out looking like perfect hand written calligraphy because it's so thin and precise. Personally, I had something against using labels. For our STDs (and invites) I am hand writing the addresses. I think labels can make something look like junk mail.

I was just talking to my mom yesterday about this. We are hand writing them because I think its pointless since they are just going to be thorwn out anyway (the envelopes I mean).

FI annoyed me a bit over the weekend. I finally got him to agree to let me handle all his money. He is terrible with it and just spends it if he has it. Meanwhile, I am paying all the bills and all the wedding stuff. So we made an agreement, and then he said 'But when I want my money, I want it. I don't want it all going towards wedding stuff." Mind you, he will be getting a percentage of each check and the rest goes to me, so its not like he isn't getting anything. So I politely reminded him this is HIS wedding too, and it needs to be paid for by both of us, and he still insisted he be able to have whatever he wanted back. Ugh!!!!

I printed labels on white labels for my STDs. I have heard from TONS of our guest list about them and what they thought of our STDs, so I don't think anyone thought it was junk mail! I did however pick a slightly fancier font so that it wasn't standard junkmail type and I put a tiny little graphic on the label as well, just a simple black and white rose to match our wedding theme.

My cursive is definitely not as nice as my print but I will give myself an A- for effort ;) I'm hoping to have FSILs help with the actual invitations. They have awesome handwriting. Also, for the invitations I'm thinking of just doing a nice label for the RSVP card stamped envelope. Otherwise there will be some very sore hands up in here!</div>

I think labels of any color are okay on STDs. They aren't meant typically to be formal announcements (especially if you have a casual wedding). I'm going to attempt to print directly on the envelopes for my invitations (haven't tried yet) and if that fails, it'll be clear labels for us. I personally prefer clear if you have to have labels on invitations. Never thought of it looking like junk mail and disagree. I never even throw out junk mail until I read the return address and confirm it is junk so I doubt someone would think that when they see your name.

I'm making labels for everything, because I don't think anyone will care. Lol. I am not going to spend hours writing everything out when I can type it all once and print out multiples, or actually hire someone to do it. I'll use a nice script font and fancy up the label a bit, plus the return labels will have our names so I don't see how it'll be mistaken for junk. Although, depending on what the envelope is like and how the printer cooperates, I might look into printing on the actual envelope just because I might be able to do more to it, like add a fancy scroll or vine along the edges or something.

I made a few test ones (I had a TON of leftover envelopes, so I could test pretty much as much as I wanted), and I fed them one at a time. I also noticed that printing with the ink set to "Fast-Normal" quality instead of "High Quality" or whatever it's called gave me better results.

Aah, thanks for the tips! I've been feeding mine in sidways so maybe that's the problem. However, I have no idea how or where to tell it that I've changed the orientation. Any suggestions?
