shoes and getting dress hemmed

What did you guys decide to do as far as getting shoes and being married on the beach? I'm plannin on being barefoot on the beach, but am not sure what shoes to get to wear after the ceremony. I'm thinking flats might be the best.

I agree flats would be best if you are hemming your dress to the length it will be when you are barefoot ....

The whole wedding party will be barefoot for our ceremony and we're telling our guests shoes optional My dress will be hemmed to barefoot length, and then I'm just wearing flat sandals for the walk to the beach and then afterwards. I just found a super cute pair on sale at macys for $22, or I'm going to get normal flip flops and glue rhinestones on them.

The boys each used their own reef flip-flops. My mom was actually concerned about the club's dress code and flip-flops but no one else cared except for her....

The seamstress at the store I bought my dress told me I should be able to pull off a flip flop for the beach part and a heel no more than 1 to 1 1/2" for the reception part with the same hem length...... I haven't had my alterations done so hopefully everything works as planned (the low heel also proved very hard to find but was able to find something).

I wore flat sandals the whole time. I thought about going barefoot but was worried the sand would be hot (although I think it was fine - some of our guests were barefoot

). I also considered flip flops, but I didn't want to hear them flopping, and worried about tripping with my big dress. So I got pretty flat strap sandals with some embellishments at Nordies, and I'm glad I did - I like the pics I got with them (you can see them in my bio).

I bought some wedge shoes from Nordstrom and had my dress hemmed to that height/lenght and I wore them on the sand. I'm only 5'3" so I wanted to look as tall as possible. But once the ceremony was done I took them off and just stood on my tip totes in photos.
