Can anyone reccommend a good DJ??
We live in Orlando but the wedding will be in the Melbourne area.

I could also use some suggestions for the Orlando area.  So far I've been quoted $800 for 4hrs.  That is out of my budget, anyone pay less, or is that close to the going rate?

    Thanks!!!

WAY better than a DJ, if you have the budget definitely look into Jonathan Cortez.  He was a former American Idol contestant and DJs as well as performs live.  I shoot (photographer) tons of weddings a year and he is pretty much the best I have ever seen! His e-mail is theJACofalltrades@gmail.com.  check him out!  I also have a little more information about him from a recent wedding that he did here: http://shaycochranephotography.com/blog/?p=2432.  Tell him Shay Cochrane of Shay Cochrane Photography sent you! :)  Seriously check him out!

We are using Soundwave Entertainment.  My FI and I clicked instantly with them.  I can't remember their exact rates because they are also doing lighting for us as well.

Jay Edwards is one of the best DJs. Everyone here recommends him.  He is also one of the sidekicks on the mix 105.1 in the morning but he's not like that at all at your wedding.  He doesn't talk, he lets you be the star and he follows your music wishes to the T.  He's not cheesy, he's very classy.  You can read my review of him in the link below.  When you call, mention the knot because he will give you a discount.

In the Melbourne area check out:
    -Celebrations DJs
    -DJ Shane Entertainment, Inc.
    -Tony Banks (A1A DJ)

We decided to go with DJ Shane and just booked/put the deposit down with them last week.

Sarah- Her bio doesnt have a wedding date and all 6 of her posts somehow relate back to her blog- "here's a cute idea for a guest book that I took a picture of" or "here's a singer I've seen a weddings and heres a link to my blog"

I vote vendor- and if you look back, shes been warned before.

I used  A-List DJ Entertainment and I can't recommend him enough! He did a great job. I was really concerned about nobody dancing because my family isn't really big on dancing, but he had the dance floor packed the entire night.

I went through Gigmasters.com and found a DJ for around 450.00 for 4 hours.

Thanks for all the input!!  Jay Edwards was booked on my date, but he recommended A-list DJ Entertainment (thanks Aileene for the review on him!!) so we ended up going that route...just put the deposit down over the weekend!

    Thanks again!!
