An "Are you kidding?!" moment...

Received the following text from my lovely mother:

iF YOU REALLY WANT FANTASTIC WEDDING GIFTS YOU SHOULD INVITE, BXXXX AND RXXX THEY ONLY GIVE THE BEST GIFTS!!! AND ALWAYS HAS!!!

Yes her message was in all caps- as my mother often chooses to not type in lower case and no she is not paying for the wedding. My sister and I found it humorous as we know its absolutely ridiculous. I responded with "They can come to the wedding however the reception guest list is complete.

Praise Him for peace and patience!!

  • The reception is where they deliver the amazing gifts.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • They were never invited to the wedding. They are friends of my aunts. the wedding is in a large church so I figure if she wants to go and invite people she can but they can only be invited to the wedding. Her response was "K". Which means she most likely won't be passing on this news to them.

  • I think OP is saying that since it's in a church, it's technically a public event, so anyone who wants to show up can and they can't stop them.
  • My home church is the same way.  The put wedding announcements in the bulletin.  Anyone can come to the ceremony.  The reception is invitation only.  When I was young, if the bride had money she would have a cake and punch reception for everyone that came to the church.  After that would be the big reception with dinner and dancing!
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!
