Where is everyone today?

Re: Where is everyone today?

  • Hi cab! How has your day been? I thou devine's thread would be more active.

  • Hello all. I'm bored today. I went for a job interview and took the dog for a walk. And I'm waiting on the priest to call me, apparently he's really bad at returning calls. I last called on Monday morning, so I think I'm going to call tomorrow if no one's gotten back to me, that's reasonable, right? I just don't want to lose our wedding date because everyone else that got engaged managed to call at the right time. I really want to start calling reception venues, but I feel like I can't until we have a set date.

I did post in Cal's thread from yesterday the most perfect take-down of Chris Brown I've ever seen.

Also, if you want to see ridiculous customer service in action, take a look at 1800flowers twitter or FTD's facebook. Apparently a lot of people didn't get their flowers or what they ordered yesterday.

  • My day has been boring. I am not in the mood to be here today AT ALL. How did your interview go, divine?
  • It went pretty well, but there were four other people there, so, we'll see. It's a bank job, which I do like because I would at least have pretty regular hours.

Well GL on that! Hope you get it :)
  • I was buried alive for a little while under a crap ton of filing that the "File Fairies" assured me would be done today.  Oh and trying to plan for the international student dinner tonight with the university's President and wife.  I have  been tracking down flags from all of the countries that we have students from.  I did manage to sneak in a little FB time.  Thank goodness for iPhone!

That's something that sounds fun in theory, but I imagine is the biggest pain-in-the-ass ever to actually do.

  • I'm here. I need to get my life together. I messed up a project for school so I'm turning it in late because I'll lose fewer points and didn't realize there was another assignment due. I fail. Also FMIL ordered a b-day cake for FI (b-day tomorrow) and I'm annoyed because I wanted to make a cake and do stuff for him. Mer just a crappy mood

Yeah in theory it would have been fun but not so much.  HAA Oh and then I had to remind them how to hang each flag.  Oh that was such fun.  The molten chocolate cake better be worth it and screw the low carbs today.  HAAA
  • I'm jus hanging around, earning my keep as a stay at home wife because THERE ARE NO JOBS HERE.

  • Divine - GL on the interview, I'm happy to hear it went pretty well.

I had my third fitting today, I didn't take any pictures even though I wanted to, the seamstress was really busy and I felt bad when I thoght about asking. I didn't have anyone there to take pictures for me. BUT I am SOOOO happy with the dress and how it fits/looks. She had to take more in in the waist because of the weight I lost - thankfully she didn't mind, she told me she was proud of me and that I was great to work with since I did what I said I would do and I was so organized. The hem had to be adjusted as well from the weight loss. I just feel so much better in it. I loved my dress before, but didn't feel amazing in it because I wasn't happy with how I looked, kwim? But I'm so happy now, and I just love it!

Other than that, I have been busy with work here and busy with planning FI's bachelor party. His best man (that lives here - he has two the other is in KY) dropped the ball on me completely and I really want FI to have this so I took it into my own hands and in two hours have it planned out and things handled, something his BM couldnt do in a month. Ridiculous.

I hope everyones had a great day, mine had a frustrating down spot but I am so so very happy with my dress it makes it a wonderfully great day.

  • It did that to me a couple of times yesterday.  BOOO!!!
  • HELLO!!!!!!

I'm at home sitting right now doing some laundry. I am tired, I spent most of the afternoon cleaning our upstairs since my sister and her fam are coming over to visit this weekend, I want our entire house clean for my niece! I'll be busy at work for the next few days though so hopefully H helps out when he gets home on Saturday! I worked this morning and went to the commissary. I had way too many groceries earlier, so it sucked bringing it in!

How is everyone doing? I've missed TK for the last couple of days.
  • Hi everybody! I've been sleeping most of the day since I got home at 8AM... I had overnight trauma call, yay for 28-straight-hour shifts at the hospital. Other than that, I'm making something yummy and chocolatey for FI.

Divine- good luck with the job possibility!
Zims- sorry you're having a rough day
amh- yay for dress fittings! And I think it was sweet of you to plan your FI's bachelor party
Hike- are you enjoying being a SAHW? Sorry about the job situation.

  • Hi ladies!

Katelyn, just do it anyway!  No one ever complained from having too much cake.  Don't make it a competition - just be grateful his Mom wants to do something at all for his birthday.  Not all people are so lucky - I think my FMIL thinks she deserves presents on her kids' birthdays.  She didn't even call FI last year on his... it's coming up next month, so we'll see if she remembers.

DMB - good luck with the interview!  Let us know how it goes when you hear back.

AMH, glad to hear you like your dress!  And boo on the best man for dropping the ball.  I don't know if FI will get a bachelor party because he has 2 groomsmen, both of which live far away and are very busy, but we'll figure something special out for him.

I've been at work... we're down to 11.5 weeks now, so that's not so bad! Laughing

We decided to foster a dog.  Sasha needs a pal, we really want another dog but we can't get one until after we've moved out of my parents' (so after we're married).  We've contacted a dachshund rescue agency to let them know that we're happy to foster a dog until we leave, hopefully less if we can find him/her a forever home sooner.

Oh, and we're going on a cruise!!!!  We got a deal from TravelZoo, and we're going on a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas next weekend!  It cost under $230/person including taxes & gratuities, and you honestly can't beat that.  So I'm eating carrots and hummus, and fruits and yogurt, and going to pole dancing class 3x per week, because I'd really like to do the best with what I've got to work with in such a short time period so I don't feel like a flat slob in my bathingsuit.  And plus also, hopefully it'll jumpstart my getting-in-shape so I don't end up as a fat bride!

Speaking of Fat Bride, CAB, have you read that book?!  It's hilarious!  I was reading the chapter about adopting a dog last night before bed and I was laughing so hard I was crying - FI wanted to see if I was okay.

  • @Cal- I think I may do a cookie cake or something small. It's just the 2 of us and I don't want either to go to waste :/ I know I shouldn't look at it as a competition. She already had a birthday thing with him when we were home a couple weeks ago so I wish I would've been able to have mine tomorrow if that makes sense. Just gotta go with it I guess

JUST started it this last weekend! I just love her!!!
  • I was babysitting all day...2.5 weeks left til my cousin's in-laws get home and they take back over. I'm still sick and our Officer Selection Office is doing the ROTC's O-course this Saturday.  I'm hoping to be fully recovered by then so I, hopefully, don't hack up a lung.  It's also supposed to be cold so here's to hoping the weather man is wrong.

  • I haven't been around the boards much lately.

I've decided to make the BM's jewelry for the wedding, and it's proving to be way more complicated than I had originally thought.

Also, I'm reading a really good book which takes up any other time I might have.

Hope you ladies are all doing well!  I've missed posting, but I'm kind of loving how much stuff I've been getting done!

  • I've been busy stressing over wedding related things. I've been at work and every spare minute I have had today has gone into wedding research. One good thing is that I did find a flower girl basket and ring bearer pillow that I like.

The dilema I have right now is that my little girl cousin can be very ill-tempered. I love her to death and I do not want to replace her but I can see her throwing a fit on the weddding day and not listening to anyone. However my cousin's cousin is a few years older than her and although we are not related by blood our families have been close for 30 years. I was thinking of possibly having both of them be flower girls? I can see my little cousin listening to the older girl because she does like her and they do play together. But I don't know if I want two flower girls? I don't know what to do...

  • Hi everyone. I'm late as usual. I have been really busy at work lately, it has been nice, but the constant running to meeting makes it feel like I haven't actually accomplished anything... ugh.

I fought with my mail carrier for about a week... they stopped my mail...my own fault because I never checked the junk mail, but there was a "Vacant" note in my box... after about a week I finally wrote on big letter " I STILL LIVE HERE! GIVE ME MY MAIL BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Okay, not in caps...and I said it nicer. (Didn't want him going postal on me) But I just sent out my invites so I was kind of freaking out, for good reason because I actually got a returned one in my mail today....(RSVPs went to a different address in a different state)

I bought FIs ring yesterday. He likes the two-tone style with the classic band. I had started noticing men's wedding bands lately, and I really liked the classic look that 50 years from now will still look nice.

So, I'm only slightly annoyed... I'm in a business fraturnity (co-ed) and some of the people I am very close with...hence they got a invite to the wedding. Other people didn't, a friend that is invited and I am very close with (and knows that not everyone is invited) posted a groupon on FB for a hotel in the city I am getting married, saying " for *my last name*'s wedding". First.... WHY? You know not everyone is getting an invite... Second, I know that is a great deal...but the hotel we suggested is ACROSS THE STREET...I would feel so much better if my friends that will be drinking aren't driving around after partying most of the night. KWIM?

Sorry for the novel... I miss you ladies!

Tylee you have more drama with your wedding than I've seen in awhile. You're just assuming the cousin willl throw a tantrum? Im sure she has a mother who can handle her if she gets out of control but i seriously wouldn't devote any time trying to guess what will happen. There are many more things to worry about day of. As for me, I had a long day of networking by the beach! Three more days of genetics talks for me! Loving it down here.

If the little girl's mom isn't part of the wedding party, can you save a spot for her in the front row at the far end? My ring bearer and flower girl's mom's were both in my WP, but the ring bearer's dad wasn't. We saved two seats at the far end of the front row on each side and if the kids got wonky (for lack of a better word and I like it and it's late), they sat down with a parent and there were some colors and a coloring book under the seat. I don't know if that would help ease your fears, but I really liked knowing there was a plan for unexpected wonkiness. GL!
