Undergarments

I was wondering if there is any bride out there that has worn a Maggie Sottero gown. What I am wondering is if it is nessecary to buy undergarments for her gowns? I have gotten a different response from every bridal shop, so I was wondering if I needed to spend the money.

I am planning on getting the Lara dress and every time I have went to this specific dress shop they always put a bustier and slip on me every time. I am just unsure if thats really nessecary because I have heard from a lot of brides that they are just trying to make money and make you buy usless things.

Re: Undergarments

  • There are a lot of women on here that wore Maggie's.  I would say as far as undergarments go, it's a personal preference.  I would think a slip would be a good idea depending on the style, but if it's A-Line you'll want that little bit of fullness.  As far as a bra goes, I've read it both ways...depends on the coverage/up-lift you want/need or don't need.
  • Its going to depend on the dress that you choose. Some dresses can just have cups sewn in, but other dresses (and this depends on the girls wearing them as well) require different undergarments for support.

  • I wore a Maggie gown and all I wore under my gown were personalized boy shorts that said Mrs. New Last Name. I didn't even wear a bra because the seamstress sewed cups into my gown which was way more convenient.
  • I was a Sottero & Midgley bride and I had a built in corset and bra, so I only wore white bride panties with a blue bow on them under my gown.
  • Totally depends on the dress. I just got bra cups sewn in and found a pair of fancy white underwear that was comfortable to wear for the day - voila! But depending on the style of the dress, you may need more than that.
