Plus Sized Bridesmaid

I recently got engaged and asked my sister to stand by my side as a bridesmaid. My sister is plus-size, about a size 18-20. My main priority is finding a dress that she is comfortable in and happy with before worrying about the rest of the party. My smallest bridesmaid is a size 2. I am desperate for suggestions for bridesmaid dresses that come in a large variety of sizes and flatter a variety of body type/sizes. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated-I want all of my bridesmaids to feel beautiful and comfortable.

I highly recommend you pick a color/length/fabric/designer, and just let each person pick out their own dress.  Each person can choose a dress that is flattering to them and they feel comfortable and confident in.   The dresses don't have to be identical, and since the length, color and fabric will match, they will all flater each other.

This is me and my BMs.  You can certainly tell that they are both BMs, no one will mistake them for any other guest.  But, they got to pick out dresses that they loved.

I agree with cmgilpin's post.  Letting bridesmaids pick their own style is helpful.  Sometimes what you think flatters someone doesn't in their eyes.  I was in a wedding last April where the bride one dress for everyone and I think this dress is pretty universally flattering. The size range from a 2 to a 14(me).

PM me if you're interested in a pic.  There were a lot of us so I don't know if the other bridesmaid would want it posted on a public site.

My bridesmaids ranged from a zero to a 28.  The girls chose Mori Lee style 262, and it truly looks beautiful on all of them. I asked them if they wanted to choose their own style, but they all agreed they wanted to wear this dress.

I don't know what season your wedding will be in, but mine will be in mid-September and I chose this one from DB:

My bridesmaids range in size from 3 to 28 and they all say this dress is just darling (and they are not the kind to just blow smoke) and flatters them. I loved it because it comes in 44 colors so I could make up my mind later as to which of my three I was going to choose (royal blue, sunshine yellow and silver).

I agree with all of the advice above.

Also, if your sister wants to wear a bolero or wrap to cover her arms, I'd let her do it.   I've been a bridesmaid a couple of times, and the best experience (as a plus size person) was when the bride let me were a chiffon bolero to cover my arms  (which I am self conscious about).  It matched the color of the dress and basically gave me light  "sleeves" on the dress (it was a winter wedding).  I loved the dress and felt comfortable all night long.

The worst experience was when I had to wear a dress that made me look like a fat overstuffed cranberry.  I had asked the bride if I could wear a bolero and she said no, she wanted all the maids to look identical.  I felt uncomfortable all night.  I hate every single picture from that wedding.   So my advice is to keep an open mind if your sister makes any requests.

i think A-line is suitable for all shapes and sizes, or you can choose something different styles but in the same colour so they all feel comfortable in the dresses
