It's Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Mine started out fine, and ended in a car accident (everything's okay, although I'm pretty sure the guy's insurance was no good).

I'm at my ILs house today, filling out a crash report to send in (because the dispatcher wouldn't send an officer for a "minor accident") and then driving home.  It's been a loooooong weekend and I'm ready to see H and my puppies.  =)

Re: It's Monday!

  • So sorry about the accident, Prof. Dealing with that stuff is such a pain. I'm glad that no one was hurt.

I ended up with a full-blown cold this weekend. Since it's my day off, I plan on spending the day taking it easy, drinking a ton of water and OJ and kicking this thing before it gets worse/turns into something else. I feel a little better today, so hopefully, I'm on the mend.

  • That's terrible about the accident AND the cold!!!

My weekend was nice, but busy.  I am exhausted, and it doesn't help that it's rainy here!  I had my Creighton follow-up on Friday, and she was actually able to find my peak day, which I had not.  So that was good :)  My post-peak phase was 9 days, which I'm now thinking seems short, but I'm not sure.  Anyway, she said I'll eventually start using yellow stickers, and helped explain a few things that had been confusing for me.  Over all it was a really good meeting, and I'm feeling good about my ability to use this method!

  • That's too bad about the car accident and the cold - I hope that things are resolved for both of you soon!

Resa - glad to hear your Creighton meeting went well!  I think 9 days was within the "normal" range for a post-peak phase, but I can't remember that for sure.  I haven't been charting long enough to have gone through a full cycle, so we haven't talked about that yet as I don't know how long my post-Peak phase(s) will be yet.

We had a fairly relaxing weekend, which was nice because we've been so busy lately, and will be traveling out of town for a friend's wedding next weekend.  I'm excited for it because she's having a Catholic wedding and it will be nice to see how it goes, I really haven't been to many so this will be a good crash course for my own!  I won't know a ton of the other guests, and a lot of the ones I will "know" I'm not good friends with, so I'm not sure how the reception will go.  I'm sure FI and I willl manage to have a good time though!
  • Erin, I totally feel the same way abou a Catholic wedding I'll be attending this month.  I am excited to see it because it'll prepare me more for mine.  I have been to plenty of Catholic weddings, but there are plenty of things I never really paid attention to before that I am now interested in seeing.

  • Hello everyone! Professor, I'm so glad everyone was okay. Crashes suck.

I had a great weekend. FBIL and his wife and son came to visit.  I also got to meet a knottie on Saturday who normally frequents on E (crfb).  Got a lot of my loose ends tied up for the wedding.  Not much more I can do until I go to my hometown (where the wedding is) on Thursday morning.
  • Hi!

My weekend was... well blah... getting everything ready for the deployment. That is what I mainly came here for...some prayers for H and I as we go through our first deployment. It is a weird feeling to be honest, part of me just wants to hurry up and have him leave because this implending goodbye is really weighing on me... but then the thought of not seeing him for upwards of 9 months is really sort of scary.   Anyway, Prayers please? Thanks!!

  • Amanda, I can not even imagine how difficult that must be!  I also hate impending goodbyes, so I can understand the feeling of wanting to get it over with.  I will def say a prayer that you're able to get through it without too much difficulty.  Good luck!!!

Chelsea -- FIVE DAYS?!?!?!  I can't wait to see pictures!

I am going to the TOB institute next week for another class for my certification. This class will be taught by Peter Kreeft on the "Thought of JPII". Basically studying his own anthopology. I've been cramming in my reading before the class and I'm pretty intimidated. The small amount of philosophy I've gotten into I've enjoyed, but I had to take it slow and have it explained to me. This is intense stuff with a very big vocabulary that I don't know, so I really need prayers for this class. I have a very special connection with JPII though so I'm excited to learn more about him and his thought process. Fascinating.

That being said, I always enjoy my weeks at the institute. THey are honestly the absolutely best weeks of my life spent there. The classes are taught in a retreat setting (daily mass, daily holy hours, rosaries, liturgy of the hours, down time in the afternoons, etc). The classes are taught in front of the tabernacle, so if nothing else, you've spent at least 30 hours in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
  • Carrie, that seems like a really awesome experience.  I'm sure you'll do fine!  You'll have to fill us in on any amazing things you learn

  • Chelsea...you're soooooo close!! Yay!

Amanda...my prayers are definitely with you and your H. I can only imagine how difficult a deployment would be.

Agape...I'll also be praying for you for your week at the institute. It sounds like it will be a good experience, but philosophy intimidates me, too. It requires a lot of patience on my part to get through even a little bit.

Ressa...glad to hear that things are going well for you on the Creighton instruction. My experience was that yellow stickers made all the difference.

Erin...H and I went to a wedding this spring where we literally only knew the B&G. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty awkward, especially because they didn't have tables (it was cocktail-style; it could have easily been a "How many etiquette rules did the couple break" type of post, but there was no reason for that), so we were supposed to mingle. After that, I think even casually knowing a few people, you'll be fine. It will be enough for you to feel comfortable, and they will certainly be friendly. I am sure it will all be fine. :)

  • Biblio, I am SO excited for your baby girl to arrive!  How are you feeling?

  • I mean other than the cold of course!

Thanks! We're super excited, too! I think H and I are both starting to feel ready for her to come, and, at the same time, totally freaked out that she's actually going to come. We're down to odds and ends left to do -- a few things to buy, a load of blankets to wash, get the car seat installed tomorrow. Once our dresser arrives and we can put all the stuff that goes in it in it (instead of sorted bags and piles all over the nursery), I will take and post pictures. :)

Other than the cold (starting to feel better on that front, though I will be taking tomorrow off, because I have the sick time to use), I'm mostly tired and uncomfortable. I find myself fantasizing about having a 4th of July baby (Instead of a Bastille Day or later baby), which tells me that I'm probably more ready than I'm telling myself.
