Menu Poll (yes, I am going there)

Yes, I am one of those people. But I have an excuse. We were barely at our minimum with our total invitee list, and now that we have several "no"s, I am going to have to add on to meet the minimum (or just pay the minimum anyway.) So that being said, Here's what we are serving:

Carving Station
- mesquite smoked inside round & sweet butter glazed breast of turkey
horseradish cream & homemade barbecue sauce
cilantro mayo & grilled peach compote
petite cheddar biscuits & rosemary and brioche rolls
Homestyle Soup Station:
~tomato bisque with mini boursin grilled sandwiches
~baked potato with parmasen bacon crisp
Hors D’oeuvres

seasonal fruit and berry kabobs with raspberry ginger glaze
grape tomato, mozzarella & prosciutto
gulf coast crab cake with red pepper aioli
twice baked fingerling potato with boursin cheese & truffle oil
Artisan Cheese Selection: sage derby, red Windsor, French brie, garlic boursin, parmesan reggianito, irish porter cheddar and bleu cheese served with roasted nuts, fresh and dried fruits, gourmet selection of crackers & lavosh flatbread
White and Dark Chocolate Fountains including a selection of fresh and dried fruits, marshmallows, assorted miniature cookies, rice krispie treats, pecan bars, pretzel rods and mini graham cracker sticks

And Here's the selections I have narrowed my add-on to:
PETITE PLATE OPTIONS
Chicken & Waffles
slow roasted chicken in veloute sauce over mini cornbread waffles

Pan Seared Scallops
placed on a bed of arugula with sliced almonds, ruby red grapefruit sections, chives and pink lemon vinaigrette

Shrimp & Grits
southern grits, blackened shrimp & garlic made with PBR served in a mini cast iron skillet

Chicken & Dumplings
the traditional favorite served over cheddar cheese buttermilk dumplings

Southern Fried Cornish Game Hen
buttermilk marinated, double breaded, served with garlic smashed potatoes & country sage gravy

DISPLAY OPTIONS
Chip, Dip, Hooray!
fondue of warm queso, house made salsa, black bean dip & artichoke feta dip surrounded by tortilla chips, pretzel rods, kettle chips, pita chips, sweet potato chips

Antipasto Display
prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, parmesan reggianito, mediterranean olives, roasted red peppers, pepperoncinis, grilled asparagus served with tuscan sourdough & parmesan fettuccini brittle

  • I didn't read any choices after chicken and waffles, and I don't think you should either.  ;)

  • Also, if you do the chip/dip thing, the other reception I went to at the Magnolia had DELICIOUS hummus.

  • Yeah I was leaning towards one of the 3 poultry options. I prefer the chicken & dumplings (mostly cause of the cheddar dumplings. I love cheese anything) but definitely wanted a feel for what you girls think. I am not finalizing til next week...

  • Oh yummy! I am hungry now! Definitely chicken and waffles...but agree, chicken and dumplings would be just as delish...
  • Ask them to write "twaffles" on the card that identifies them.

  • I voted for the antipasto display. My H looooves all the things listed there, and would be in heaven to find that set up at a wedding.
  • Can you upgrade the bar? That's what we did.
  • Stephie, we are doing it on consumption cause we have so many non-drinkers in the group that I didn't want to pay the per person fee for them to not drink

  • Chicken and waffles, chicken and waffles, chicken and waffles!

I wanna go just to eat, your menu sounds delicious!
  • Twaffles is a great knottie shout out. I have no vote, except to say I love this thread. And food.

Ohhh snap, that is pretty great. I'm too old for games, but I'll freely LOLOL. I love when peeps take the internets so srsly.
  • OK I am a chicken and waffles hater... and I will be the first to say it's probably not fair because I had them at Roscoe's in Los Angeles when FI was living there... and then we went on a 5 hour hike. So yeah, chicken and waffles is not pre-workout food.

That being said I'm a crazy fool over Chips, Salsa, Queso, etc.... So that's my vote!
  • I voted antipasto because I love salami.

  • I didn't read the "chedder dumplings" though.  Still, you like weiners so I'm kind of surprised $1 hot dogs aren't on there.
  • I've never had chicken & waffles!!!
