Inexpensive wedding dresses?

Hi all,

I bought my wedding dress from Priscilla of Boston at their sample sale in June...with no mom, not friends, no anyone to help me look. I panicked and bought a Vineyard dress that seemed to work for $1278. Upon getting in home (and with no returns) I realize I am just not in love with it and it doesn't make me feel my best. My concern is that I won't be able to sell it for what I paid for it, and I am now looking for a second dress under $750--I will definitely try to sell the first dress but I don't want to buy a second as expensive dress and then be out twice what I spent!

Any great ideas for dress under $750? I know of Vows and DB but what other great options are out there? I live in Somerville, so we are looking at Cambridge, Boston, Somerville, etc. Thanks so much!

My BMs are coming up Saturday to look, so quick ideas are much appreciated.

Vinyard is a popular line-- which lady did you purchase?  I know some friends are currently looking for some in that line and NOT excited about paying the boutique prices over there! :)

... as for places to shop, maybe you might want to consider another sample sale?  But bring a friend, mom, or bridesmaid with you!!! :)  Good luck!

I found my dress at one of the local dress shops, but it was in the basement in the "discontinued" room.  I got my $1200 dress for $500.  A lot of shops do this with leftover dresses once the original is discontinued.

3 of my friends got dresses at La Reine in Waltham, all under $1500. I know others have had a poor customer service experience there, but I have always thought it was decent (not fabulous, but good).

Precious Memories in Malden has all bunch of price ranges...

I think you would be satisfied at the selection of dresses they offer in your price range!!

I live in Melrose and I never thought that I would find the dress of my dreams anywhere but POB... and especially not in Malden (no offense to anyone!) but i DID!

The maggie sottero I really like is $750, for the quality and value I was shocked... I have been to DB and boutiques and it has the boutique quality for a DB price...

Went to Camillas in Lexington (just up mass ave a bit) and they had a lot under 1k

Thanks for all the great ideas, everyone! I do have an appointment on Saturday at Precious Memories. Camilla's is booked solid, but perhaps I will try them again soon. I have two of my best friends/BMs going with me, so I will have some good support.

@evseidlHere is the gown I bought, Skipper in 6 (street size 4) http://www.brides.com/wedding-dresses-style/wedding-dresses/gallery/dresses/vendor/designer/vineyardcollection/detail/209939?docPos=1&sleeve-length=sleeveless&fabric=chiffon&wedding-dress-price=197_ssss&designer=vineyardcollection

If anyone is interested in it, I'd be thrilled to make a deal!

Thanks again for all the help.

Arunyan- you can also try to sell your dress on the knot "Wedding Classifieds" board, or on craigslist, or http://www.bravobride.com/ or http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/

I would try Gianna's in Stoneham (if you can travel a bit north of Boston) - several of my friends have bought their dresses there, and they have the one I plan to order!  They have a range of dresses, but I know they have a big selection for under $1K.

Also, try Vows in Watertown - it has a great selection of less expensive gowns because they're past seasons, typically.  Their website is GREAT, if you want to browse what they have before you make an appointment:  http://www.bridepower.com/

    Good luck!

Agreed! I got mine from Precious Memories too, for about $850. They have a great selection and great prices.

    PS...I'm from Melrose too!

Ditto! Precious Memories in Malden! I lived in Malden for a short time and thought the same, that I would never find my dress there!

Never expected to find it, I wasn't even looking and it practiaclly jumped off of the sale rack at me! It was originally $1400 and I got it for $300. I'm not even ashamed to tell people that. The ladies there are very sweet and helpful too!

Wow, $300 is a steal for a $1400 dress! Was this a special sale or did you ask if you could purchase the sample?

    @megandjay - good ideas, thanks!

I don't think that your link is working, but happy that you found a dress you love.
I have to 4th ditto that Precious Memories is great! I got married last month and got my dress from there.  The service was awesome and I was shocked to find my dream dress for under $700.  You'll love the alterations, good pic :)

    Happy Planning!

Maggie Sottero has a line that is a little less expensive than her Maggie Sottero line that is really beautiful, I think it's Sottery & Midgley.  You'd just need to look for store that carries them.  Her stuff is out of this world gorgeous for the money.  Then try selling your other dress on ebay.
