Cork Factory Hotel--any insight?

Hey everyone,

I am in the beginning stages of wedding planning and this is my first post here.  I've been looking at venues in the Philly area, but we are now expanding our search to Lancaster as well.

I am wondering if anyone has any insight on the Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster?  My fiance and I are going to visit the space on Sunday, but so far it looks like a really interesting place that fits our style and the packages are reasonable (especially compared to the venues we've seen in Philly).  The only downside so far is that nearly every Saturday evening in 2013 is booked already, so we would have to do a Friday/Sunday evening or a Saturday Brunch.  We were already considering a Friday wedding, so that was not a huge issue for us.  Their Saturday Brunch package also seems pretty nice, so we're going to get more information about how that would work while we are there.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has had first hand experience with the place (i.e., how was the food, service, etc?).  Any insight would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

  • I've heard only amazing things from Cork Factory and the pictures from weddings there are gorgeous.

We ran into the same scheduling issues with them -- 2013 was all but booked, and that was in August 2011!!!!

I've never personally been to a wedding at Cork Factory, but we go to the Cork and Cap regularly and the food and staff there are wonderful.

    Good luck!!

  • Thanks for your insight!  My fiance and I thought about eating at the Cork and Cap while we are up there to see how it is.

I misspoke about something and I wanted to clarify one point for folks interested in the Cork Factory.  They just opened (last week I think) a new space for receptions called The Wharehouse.  I don't know anything about the space, but it is not booked up like the Ballroom.  The person I spoke with over the phone said the Wharehouse is really only for a reception only, so it didn't look like an option for us, since we want to have our ceremony and reception all in one location.  Just FYI for those interested!
  • I love it there! ive been there for plenty of business meetings and my company is actually holding a huge client event in oct.
for the food- from the appetizers i have had in the past they are great- i can tell you more after oct 4 if you would like... but the atompshere is stunning and you can do SO many things there! it was def on mu radar when we were looking.

They now have two ballroom areas I believe?  Both are booked?!  Two things.. one.. don't try to cram the room there with guests. We've seen it packed with close to max capacity and it was a mad house and two.. don't be late.  When dinner is ready, it's ready.  Unfortunately a wedding we attended, the couple was running a half hour late and half the non-protein items were going back.  Food wise though.. delish!
  • <div>Thanks for your thoughts!  I am going to visit this weekend and will hopefully have first hand knowledge soon.  If we end up booking there I'll definitely want to hear how your event in October goes :)</div><div>

  • The Cork Factory is beautiful and the food is very good.  (I attended a wedding there)  You can visit their wedding blog:   http://www.corkfactoryhotel.com/index.php?pID=126
  • We also looked at that place too, it was beautiful and by far my favorite venue choice, but they only had Sundays available for when we origianally wanted....  Good Luck, Hope you like it!

Had my July wedding there and it was a dream! They are great to work with and everything went off as planned. Can't say enough good things. When I booked my wedding in Feb '11, it was for summer '12 and at that time they only had 4 summer dates left and few weekends in the fall. They book out so early. The Warehouse space looks AWESOME! :)

In fact...to whomever posted the blog from their site, my wedding is the July wedding that is the most current entry! :)
  • I was in a sunday evening wedding in march 2012 and the reception was held at the cork factory. It was a very unique venue and the ballroom is cozy. So convenient for overnight guests too. Cocktail hour and the seated dinner were excellent!
  • Hi, I am renting out Vintage & Industrial type decor for several weddings scheduled at the Cork Factory in 2013. It is a hugely popular venue in Lancaster County. My Rental business is located only 30 min. from there. Check us out at www.LovebirdsVintageDecorRentalsofPA.com. Brides can pickup items from our location or we can deliver to the Hotel. Hope this helps!
