I'm really curious to see what people think of this. They're saying women only need a Pap test every 3 years (after 30, you can have them every 5 years) & you don't have to start getting them until after you turn 21, even if you're sexually active before that.
As someone who had an irregular Pap 2 years in a row now & had the cells progress to stage 2, possibly stage 3, I am so NOT ok with this. Going by the 3-year thing, I had a normal Pap in 2009 & would be going again this fall. By then, the pre-cancerous cells could have easily became cancerous.
They're saying the possible complications associated with treatment procedures is the reason it's not necessary to have a Pap every year. I would prefer to have that stupid colposcopy, cryosurgery, or a LEEP rather than get freaking cancer & have to have my cervix removed or have chemo.
