Finding a photographer..not so easy

So I have started the photography search process.. I was all set on Hinkley Photo and just fell in love with their work.. but did not, however, fall in love with their price tags. The very very basic package is $2500 (not bad) but does not include a lot-- only 5 hours of coverage, no album.. The package I'm looking at (which doesn't include tons either) costs around 5-6K ... GASP.. it's a little outrageous IMO.

I'm wondering if any of you lovely ladies can think of photographers with that photojournalistic look-- with a price tag that isn't too too expensive.. even $3k is doable. As always, thanks in advace for all your wonderful help!

Check out a Photographic Memory. They've got a resonable price point and will work with you. There are as many more in the NH Bio in my siggy. HTH.

I am using Dan Derby - I found him through a friend of a friend.  I was looking for someone who did the photojopunalistic style!  I think his base package is $2750 - but he is with you literally all day.  He asked me when I wanted him to show up and when I wanted him to leave!  The price also includes an engagement session and a proof book.

I am not sure how much other items are!

Catharine Morris. She's under $2500 with rights to print. We ordered an album as well through her. She's been easy to work with, though she doesn't get the teasers or pictures up as fast as other photogs.

Wow, we are so alike in our planning taste! My first choice was Hinkley Photo as well, but their price was just way out of my league...I met with A Photographic Memory and instantly felt at ease. My FI and I met with Dave last week, and booked him on the spot. He is well within our budget and included everything we needed. Let me know if you have any questions about them!

I mentioned in another post that I'm going with Alyssa Duncan.  She had a special at the time, but she might honor it for you.

For $2900, I have 8 hours of coverage with two photographers, plus a $2000 credit towards an album.  I get to pick the album and it would cover a fair number of pages in a high quality album.

    Good Luck!

I'm using affordable memories photography.  We get an album, 8 hours with 2 photographers, rights to our pics for about 2400.  They have cheaper packages than that too.

There is one other woman highly recommended who of course I can't remember her name I want to say it's Rebecca something?  She is well under 2000 but books really fast.

Finally, ask your reception and ceremony venue if they have recommended vendors.  My ceremony site gave us a book of vendors which was a huge help.

I'm looking at photographers at the moment - here are the ones I have on my list

    www.melissarobotti.com
    www.leahhaydock.com
    www.hitchedphotography.com
    www.katemcelwee.com

I think these are the correct websites. Some include albums and I think all include discs and I like the kind of candid look they have.

I'm also going to check out the others that people have listed here.
