First of all, happy birthday! 

Second of all, I know you booked your videographer late-ish, we're seriously thinking about it, but I want to get a good deal. So my question is: did you use the fact that your wedding was so close as leverage? What was your strategy in negotiating? I feel like no one else is going to book them this late so they should be more willing to negotiate with me. Was this the case for you? And also, if you did negotiate, what % did they take off if you don't mind me asking?

    As for the negotiating... I tried and failed miserably. I was also hoping that by booking late (~6 weeks) before, we could get a discount, but the guy I realllllllllllly wanted wouldn't budge. I realized afterwards that he's been featured on SMP multiple times and has a lot of awards, so I guess he knows he is good and feels like he doesn't have to discount... which is annoying but whatever...bleh.

    We ended up just going for it anyway b/c I'm too stressed about my photographer (she will be 7 months pregnant at the time of my wedding) so that made me want a good videographer more than ever.

    I wish I could be more helpful! Even though I completely failed and gave in at the negotiating, you could very likely have better luck. I think BridetoBe said she got several hundred off her videographer very easily. Do you have a specific one in mind that you want to book? You could try saying that you are comparing a few and will go with the best offer, or something like that?

    Aww boo. Yeah I remember b2b and butterfly both saying they negotiated with their videographers. I have 1 that I really like and he's available but he STARTS at $3600 so really how much would I be able to negotiate down from that? All the cheaper ones are just SO bad. There seems to be a big gap between amazing and awful. I think I might try playing 2 or 3 companies against each other...
