Rehearsal Dinner Help!

Hi everyone- I know there are many venue posts on here but I have a bit of a unique situation. My wedding is in Dallas and while my parents and SOME family live in the area, nearly 80% of our guests will be coming in from out of town. This means of course that our rehearsal is almost as large as the wedding. We want to make an effort to have the rehearsal dinner be casual and relaxed and let the wedding be the big event.

While a lot of people hold rehearsal dinners at restaurants, we are likely going to have 150 people at our rehearsal dinner, so we are really struggling to find a more casual place that still holds that many people.

Any suggestions? Looking for something near downtown Dallas as that's where our hotel is. THANKS :):)

Is there any kind of hospitality suite or restaurant in your hotel?

We had a pretty big morning after brunch and we held it in the bar of our hotel.  We just rented out the entire space.

I threw a private party at the Pappadeux on Oak Lawn and I believe they had a room that held 150--it was actually being set for an RD when I went to sign the paperwork.  It's nice because you have your own private entrance, bar and bathrooms.

Professorscience had her RD at Times Ten Cellar I think--not sure how many it holds.

You know you're not required to invite all the OOT to the RD right?  It's a lovely gesture, don't get me wrong, and we did as well, although we had far less people.  It's just that that is usually a time to relax and really spend time with everyone before the wedding, which will still be hard for you to do since there are so many guests.  You're basically having a very big event the night before another one.
  • All Maggianos have great rooms as well. We have done that for Christmas parties for work before.
  • My cousin rented out breadwinners on in wood and lovers for her RD. It was cool cause then she had the bar area and dining all for her event. However, it likely cost a lot as her budget was quite large and my uncle paid for it, even though she was the bride, and he has a lot of money. I don't know your budget but that's my only experience with such a large RD
  • You can rent out the whole main building of x10 Cellars (which would be your only option for that many guests), but it's pretty pricey.  We loved our RD, though!

  • Thanks so much ladies! :)
  • You may want to look at Buca di Beppo on Park Lane.  One of their main dining rooms may work.  And it's family style so it would be fun and casual.
