If you were feeling uneasy and really tried that hard to get ahold of him then no. I mean unless he was out of town, he could have/should have responded within a week. His response was really unprofessional so if that's any indication then you definitely made the right call. Like you said, it's your wedding and you need to have piece of mind about your vendors.

    OMG!!!!!!!!

I had a very very similar situation just like yours, my dj was a friend of a cousin how would gave us the deal of having the wedding music and reception for 500 dollars, we even gave him deposit and made contract.

After the deposit, he was no reachable at all, promising to send us the last details, we tried to text, call, email, you name it........nothing from him. 3 DAYS BE FORE THE WEDDING...NOTHING, we had the stress of getting another Dj and right after that, we left voicemail to the other dj telling him that we didn't needed him anymore, and he replies until next day saying that he would sue us and even had a very bad discussion with my husband calling me lots of names. He even menaced us on taking us to court.

We ended up paying the double for finding a DJ just 3 days before the wedding, but i did not wanted to take the risk.

The new DJ saved our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just made sure to burn him in reviews.

These self called "proffesional dj's" should burn in hell.

Forget the other DJ, AND ENJOY THE BIG DAY! =)

So he only responded when you fired him.

That is completely unprofessional and I wouldn't give it a second thought.  Not only is it unprofessioinal not to respond, but for him to call you names and the like was just dispicable behavior.  You did nothing wrong at all. Good vendors respond to their clients. YOU are the customer. I guess he forgot that. I hope you didn't pay a deposit.

    Have a wonderful wedding!

Reading these I'm so glad I found my DJ by attending multiple events he's done.  I'm going with Master Entertainment.  My sister has used Bill the DJ for her wedding and any events since then.  Recently he volunteered to drive all the way from Wisconsin to Frankfort to DJ my niece's birthday party as a gift to her.  At that point I was sold.  She had missed a wedding she was supposed to be a flower girl in because she was in the hospital for 9 days so we threw her a small wedding reception like birthday party.  A true professional with a big heart, couldn't think of anyone better to give my business to.
