Budget Wedding in Dallas

Hi. We just got engaged and I've just started planning our wedding. The problem is we are both young and just getting started financially. I initially wanted to do all the wedding planning myself, but since i work such long hours i have been having a really hard time. Does anyone have any experience with a cheap wedding planner in the area? Also, any suggestions on venues that aren't too expensive?

What is your budget for your wedding?  How many people are you inviting?  What area of DFW is best for your wedding?

To be honest, if you're working on a small budget, I would nix getting a wedding planner.  Save whatever money you can.

Not sure what your budget is or how many people your having but going the diy way is the cheaper way to go. You can also save money if you get married on a Friday or Sunday- also dont be afraid to tell the venue that you only have this X amount of money- is there anything they can do for you- I found that many venues lowered there food and drink min by a couple of thousand

a couple of diy venues are

    Myers park -Mckinney
    celebrations -Lewisville
    fairy tale manor- Frisco
    Fairview corral barn- Plano

I work crazy long hours too but didn't do the planner so I could save money and because I am a massive planner, I would have drove any planner nuts!
Anyway I did fairview farms and it was very reasonable and you can DIY. Chestunut Square in mckinney was another reasonable option and I remember reading you can rent a clubhouse or something at Austin Ranch in Plano that is reasonable. If time is an issue though you might want a place that is all inclusive so you will have a lot less to coordinate. If you are having a smaller wedding I would go with a restaurant- maggianos or blue mesa. Those are reasonable and they'll provide more things.

Sometimes places like Victorian House in Kaufman or Rockwell wedding chapel do well with a budget.  You pick a package and they do it all.  I've been to weddings both places and both were very nice.

    Good Morning,
Congratulations on your enegagement!I just got engaged myself on Christmas.  We are on a budget as well and it has been a interesting exeprience trying to find vendors within our price range.  My sister in law is a wedding planner and she is wonderful.  I am very thankful for her assistance.  The great thing about Lottie is that she offers different packages to accomidate you and your budget.  She lives in Lewisville and has an office in Plano I believe.  Her name is Lottie Fowler and her website is www.coutureeventsbylottie.com

Check her out and she shows her pricing on her website!  Good Luck and enjoy your planning time.

I could be totally wrong about this, but I feel like a wedding planner wouldn't necessarily plan the cheapest wedding, Don't they usually have relationships with vendors they usually use--reliable vendors, but the cheapest? Probably not.

Definitely utilize these boards--I've found loads of great vendors and money saving ideas from it!

If you want to use a reasonable wedding planner look into Jennifer Ashford at Altar Ego.  I'm only using her for the Day Of the wedding, but she definitely is organized, which I love!

Also, utilize this board a lot first before you look into a full service planner.  As stated before you could potentially save more money planning yourself and just maybe get a Day Of Coordinator so you can at least enjoy the day, which in that case I would highly recommend Jennifer Ashford.

If you want a wedding planner, use Lottie. She rocks.  However, I agree that it is an expense that can be cut out.  I had my wedding at Rockwall Wedding Chapel and it was beautiful.  I highly recommend it to anyone.
