October 2012 Weddings

Still have to wait two months to see my dress. Sigh.

Anyone else? My salon told me that it should come in mid-to-late July but now it's mid-to-late August. I bought it in January and now really want to see it! Plus, i bought it on the east coast (where my family and bridal party lives) and will have fittings there, but I'm on the west coast, so it involves lots of travel-plan juggling.

I know I'm probably whining irrationally, but I'm dying to get back into my dress, and having to wait an extra, unexpected month is going to be tough.

Thanks for listening, I'll stop now.

  • Hi date twin, although I don't know what you're going through cause I already have my dress, I don't think you're being irrational. You were told one thing and now you are being told another. So, it's only natural that you are more than disappointed about having to wait longer to get into that beautiful gown of yours. Try to hang in there though. Did they give you any reasons why it is taking another month to come in?

  • You are not being irrational at all.  The salon pushed the delivery date back a month, that is a long time, particularly when you need to schedule fittings.  I would hope that they could offer some explanation to the delay and perhaps a discount on your alterations?  ;)

  • Thanks.
They didn't give a reason, though I suspect it's because they know I'm traveling for the fitting and want to build in extra time for insurance. I'd be more angry if I flew across the country and showed up in July and the dress wasn't there yet. A discount would be lovely, though the dress and alterations are already paid for :)

Mostly, I'm just sad I need to wait even longer! I was counting on these little milestones to get me through the last four months before the wedding!

My delivery date was quoted as the end of July when I bought my dress in February. I REALLY hope it comes in then because I want to wear my dress again!  I'd be very disappointed if it got moved back a month.

ETA: I don't think you're being irrational at all.
  • I was quoted end of August or at the last the beginning of Sept when I bought mine in Feb.  It's been soooooo hard to hear all of these other girls getting to try theirs on too!!!  I am waiting until July to call them and find out if it's coming in early or not.  I hope it does so I can get my fittings done in Iowa where my dress is coming in...otherwise I will have to find a seamstress real quick in CA!

I would be frustrated though, if the salon pushed it back.  Mine said they estimate on the longer side since the way (at least this designer) it's done is that the collect orders across the states and once they have enough, the manufacturers churn out X amount of the same dress style at once....so maybe you just have a really original one!  ;)
