Just Engaged and Proposals

New!!!

Hello ladies!

I just got engaged this past weekend, and I'm really excited (and slightly overwhelmed with wedding planning already!)

We had been dating for almost 4 years and living together for 2 years, so I knew it was coming, but he still managed to totally surprise me. We'd been ring shopping around Christmas time (but mostly just talked about settings and such that I liked and he got my ring size then, too) but I had no idea he'd gone back and actually bought the ring. Then on Saturday, he asked me if I wanted to go on a long hike and have a picnic. We do this a lot, so again, didn't think anything of it, but after we'd had our picnic, he got down on his knee and proposed! I was shocked! He'd brought some champagne with him too, so we celebrated and then called my parents and his (who all knew, since he'd asked my parents and then talked to his about it too).

People keep asking us quesitons (like when's the date?) and I have no idea. I'm just basking in we-just-got-engaged glow right now. Is that okay? I feel bad telling people we don't know yet! LIke it's poor planning, or something! Haha.

  • Congrats!

Just because you're engaged doesn't mean you have to have any idea what you're doing. I don't! lol  I got engaged the end of March and we just decided on a date. I found it better to take some time figuring out when the best possible time was rather than just jump into something and have to change it for one reason or another later. We were able to talk to friends and family to find out if they'd be able to come and take a look at venues to see what pricing was like for different days and different seasons. We found that Sundays generally have cheaper rental fees so... Sunday it was!

I say just take your time. Take it one step at a time. And don't listen to anyone that trys to rush you!

  • Congrats!!! No you dont need to worry about the date, just enjoy the Just engaged glow! You should start thinking about how long you want your engagement to be but there is no rush :)
  • Hooray!  Congratulations!  We definitely took a bit of time to figure out a date.  We knew where we wanted to get married, and I wanted to plan around a slow time at my salon...plus my nieces birthday is right around the time we were thinking about having our wedding, so I didn't want to steal her thunder on the weekend that would be her birthday party...hey, at 7 years old, birthday parties are a HUGE deal!  I, too, was totally surprised by everyone asking soooo many questions right away.  Literally, the next day, when I went to go see my fiance and his family at the tail end of their Christmas holiday, one of his aunt's asked me if I had decided on my dress yet.  Um, hello?!?! We have been engaged for LESS than 24 hours...and yesterday was CHRISTMAS!

I say take your time and enjoy being engaged before you start stressing over dates and places!
