Park Plaza Hotel

So what do we think about these guys? I'm getting married 500 feet away at the Winter Park Farmer's market and it would be so super convienient to check in early and get ready there but i feel like they are so over priced. I was under the impression that getting a room block meant you were reserving at least 10 rooms and getting a slight discount for doing so. Not at this place. They have no discounts on weekends, not even AAA.
I think it's just hard to spend 200 bucks on a hotel when I live 15 minutes away. Some one tell me about how they really enjoyed their stay so i'll feel better about this.

I heard their restaurant is good. Sorry, not much help. I know several other girls got crazy deals for booking blocks, so maybe keep looking. Hopefully, someone else who is getting married at WPFM will chime in on where they booked their block. GL!

I don't have experience there for a wedding, but I have heard that it is really really nice. At a company I previously worked for, the owner/president of the company was coming into town and that's where he really wanted to stay. He said he had stayed there before and that it was wonderful. I know he travels quite a bit and has stayed at some pricey hotels, so my guess is that this one is just as nice as some of the fancier places.

I will say that it's not the easiest to find if you don't know exactly where you're going, (IMO) so if you're having guests stay there, you may just want to make sure you give them good directions if they're not familiar with the area.

As far as justifying spending the money vs. getting ready at home, that was one thing that I spent money on that I felt badly about to an extent, but I knew that my house was strewn with wedding stuff on the day of the wedding, also there were other family members getting ready there, so I wanted to make sure that the backdrop for my getting ready photos looked nice and not messy!  We booked at the Grand Bohemian and we stayed there after the wedding. At first, I wasn't sure if we should, but I am really glad we did!

Also, at the Park Plaza, my experience with the staff and making arrangements has been very pleasant, and they were easy to work with if that makes a difference.

We are staying there the night of the wedding (next Saturday night)...since we're also using the WPFM as our venue. You are definitely right about the convenience!

My experience so far: The staff is AMAZING. We were in town for wedding errands and stopped by to check out the hotel...they let us browse each room type since they were vacant at the time. The rooms are really nice, small but nice. Its all part of the historic charm of the place though...so it depends on what you like.

For the price, you get free valet parking and free breakfast brought up to your room or balcony in the morning which seems like a nice plus! =)

We are only staying there as a couple, so I really don't have any info on a block of rooms for this place....I agree that it would be really pricy unless its just a few people. =\ I'll have my reviews up in about a week and a half! =)

We stayed there the night of our wedding.  Our house is 15 minutes away also.  But we wanted that night to be more special than any other night obviously.  :) The staff was great! We were not able to check in that early to get ready there but we did that at my parents house (also 15 minutes away).  We had a room with a balcony across from 310.  We took a lot of our formal pictures in the hotel (since it was unusually hot for May 1st).  Our things were waiting for us in our room when we got back there, they had champagne and to-go boxes of food and cake ready for us.  It's so close that you can just walk over there when you're ready.  Friends and family went to 310 after the reception so I was able to change into a simple white dress and meet them for a couple of drinks before going to back our room.  When we were ready to be alone we just had to walk across the street.  We loved walking to Starbucks to get coffee and sitting out on the balcony the next morning and reliving the wedding day. My parents were hosting a brunch that morning at their house so we didn't eat anything before leaving... I think it was worth every penny to stay there.  It's your wedding night! When else will you be able to say that?? :)

I use this hotel at work for our VIP guests.  Make sure you get a Park Ave facing room, (if you don't you will get a room that faces the train tracks and you will hear the train horribly all night long)  The staff is very nice but they are very strict about not allowing guests an early check-in.  For the price, call and talk to everyone and haggle a bit, I'm sure someone will feel bad for you eventually.  :)
