June 2012 Wedding in Maryland

Hello fellow Brides.  Well I am stuck.  My Fiance and I are having trouble picking a wedding date mainly because 1. I graduate from my master's program end of May in 2012 and 2. we want an outdoor wedding.  Would it be too stressful to have a wedding while still in school, say April or May, (we dont plan on going on our honeymoon right away) or if we do decide to keep in in June, is it too hot to have the ceremony and reception outside during the evening?  Any feedback would help.  Good luck with everyone's wedding planning Smile

  • Planning a wedding while in school can be stressful, but it's usually stressful even for those who aren't in school. You have a bunch of time between now and any day you pick in 2012 but make sure you start looking early, as in ASAP, to lighten the stress.

I've never been to Maryland so I don't know what the weather is like there. Speaking from Texas, I would not have an outdoor wedding period because you never know what the weather's going to be like. Generally speaking, it shouldn't be too hot during April-June, especially in the evening. I would be concerned more about rain. Have a back-up plan just in case it is too hot or raining!

  • First of all, congrats on the upcoming nuptuals! I agree with the PP. Planning a wedding is stressful, no matter if you are in school or not. It depends on how you think you can handle the stress of both school and planning.
In regards to having the wedding outside, thats up to you and your FI. The weather is one of the things you can not control so thats something the two of you are going to have to think long and hard about. I would have a back up plan just in case.

  • Congrats on your recent engagement.

I would definitely check out your local board to ask about the outdoor wedding in the months you are looking at. They can be very helpful with vendor recs and other things in your area.

I personally believe planning a wedding is only as stressful as you make it. I understand being in school or working makes it harder as far as time to meet up with vendors but you have plenty of time to get it all together. I also wouldn't stress so much over picking a wedding date especially if you are looking at 2012.
  • Congrats on your engagement I'm also planning a wedding while in school I'm getting married the year before I graduate from my PhD program, the student board is great to discuss planning ideas while in school most of my planning will be done while I'm on breaks so its doable wedding planning is just stressful all in all. As for the weather I would agree on having a backup plan, I'm getting married in VA and we're looking to get married on the beach but the venues we're looking at have indoor options as well. Discussing the issue on your local board can help as well

  • Congrats to everyone on their engagements. I am also planning a wedding while in school (I graduate in May) and it can be stressful juggling everything at once. Our date is 6/9/12 and so far we've booked our ceremony and reception sites and our DJ, as well as picked the bridal party and our colors. We're going to meet with a photographer tonight!

Hooray!  Congratulations on the engagement and on being another semester closer to finishing your Masters!

I'm thinking of having an outdoor ceremony in early June in Charlottesville...not too, too far away.  There are years when it's been hot in June and years when it's been pretty spring-like.

I did some googline and found the following figures about the temperature in June in Washington DC and then Baltimore.

    • Average temperature: 75.6 degrees
    • Average high temperature: 84.7 degrees
    • Average low temperature: 66.5 degrees
    • Record High: 101 degrees

If you look at the site I posted below, you can see the average temperature in Baltimore in June going back to the 1800s.  It looks like temperatures in the 70s are to be expected.

    Feel better?  :)
