Well its not just cablevision. They are trying not to raise prices. Fox is asking for more money and Fox pulled the programming off the TV. I can't understand how they can do that since Fox is basic cable.
Agreed! HATE them! Not only is this the 3rd time they have pulled channels we watch regularly, but they just all around suck!!!!! Sooo often get 'channel is not available' on our HBOs and Showtimes that we pay extra for.... and their customer service is the WORST! When we 1st moved in, we had a DVR box that wasn't working, so they came and replaced it.... then went on to redistribute it to someone else without ever taking it off our account! And tried to blame us because it took us a few months to catch it (we never monitored our account online before, and then tried to record something at home while we were at my parents' house, and thats when we realized it.) We are looking into switching to Direct TV, or Fios is its available where we live. STAY. AWAY. FROM. CABLEVISION...!!!!!!!
As inconvenient it may be, the way I'm viewing it is that the selfish greedy channels are requesting redic amounts of money and cablevision isn't agreeing to it. Fox has a commercial out on the radio saying they offered the same price to cablevision as they did to other cable providers - i applaud people saying "no - f you and your price spike"
stick it to the man! (haha, ok i just made myself laugh with that but seriously, get what i mean by that? i hate greedy rich companies....i work for one gosh darnit grrrr)
I think there should be a cable company (maybe I'll invent one! LOL) that lets you just choose & pay for ONLY THE CHANNELS YOU WANT.... like a'la carte!
While Cablevision has a point, it's always frustrating that every cable squabble and service blockage seems to involve them, and not Time Warner or Comcast. (Time Warner's and Comcast's shareholders wouldn't ever allow those companies to deny service to their customers - they'd demand the fees be paid, no matter how exorbitant they may be. My understanding with Cablevision is that the Dolans hold most of the stock - and also, they're a smaller, regional company. TW and Comcast are nationwide.)
I've had Cablevision all my life, and it always peeved me that they'd take so long to add new channels - if they add them at all.
One of the other ones either TW or Comcast had an issue with at least one station lately. Its happening all at once for cablevision because most of their contracts are up. Fios and the others will have negotiations eventually but for the time being their contracts are not up.
Yes, I know everyone has disputes. But with the other companies, it seems they always reach deals at the last minute, with no interruption in service. I don't recall service actually being pulled like it has been with Cablevision.

AGREE! They can even make you get a bundle of 10-20 channels in addition to basic cable to protect their profits, but I'd still be happier with that. I hate having hundreds of channels when FI and I only watch a handful of them (and of course the specific channels we watch are not considered basic).
We have comcast and I HATE HATE it! Our bill is different every month...and I have to call them EVERY month! I had cablevision at home (parents). I don't remember it being as bad, but then again I never paid the cable bill. My parents switched to Fios and it's great! I wish we could, they don't offer it where we are in Jersey City yet.
If it makes you guys feel at all better, House was very meh this week.
I am a Time Warner customer, and I really feel for you guys. As Butter Knives pointed out, we get the threats of having channels pulled, but it always works out before service is interrupted. And I really can't believe that this has been going on for so long at this point. I would have thought that after 1 day of interruptions they would have realized that they *have* to come to an agreement.
I'd be lost without my shows ... it makes me sad to hear that others are suffering like this!!!

This may not be the ideal solution for everyone, but we couldn't survive without the Giants game among many other things on Fox and came up with our own solution. If you hook up an antenna and go through that instead of your cable provider, you can get Fox in hi-def right over the airwaves. It's no so easy to channel-surf now, but at least we get Fox when we want it.

This is precisely why when we move, we won't be getting any Triple Play packages. If we subscribe to cable (we're trying not to move to Cablevision areas, haha), we'll get the Internet from Verizon or whomever.
This fcukery is also not fair to the non-cable subscribers (including DirecTV users) who get their Internet from Optimum.
but it's not cablevision...it's fox...they pulled the programming because they want more than twice what they were getting...their contract is up, and they're renegotiating....
it's not that one cable company is better than the other, it's just fox's contract is up...wait a few years and it will happen on fios etc.....
and cablevision is a small-ish company so if they accept this $140 million that fox wants there will be a more significant increase in customer's bill, than say, comcast customers....
yeah it sucks.....we watch a lot of fox...and even though i think greg and roseanna are a couple of dummies...i miss watching them in the morning......
and as for hulu blocking, i had heard that it was an issue, but, we have the triple play, and i have no problem going to fox news website and getting their content and i can watch the simpsons on hulu.....or does it only block things that have aired since they pulled it?
i don't know...i just find it irritating during all these situations that everyone is so quick to blame cablevision, when it's the actually channel people that are causing the problems....
Warning
No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
We have Direct TV and I absolutely love them. Custmer Service is great. We had Cablevision in the past and yeah they suck, customer service was rude and they are the last to get new channels. Direct TV is so customer friendly that if you call and say you might switch they will give you a bill credit of $10 a month for a year. If I were you I would switch now. Cablevision is high and they don't even want to pay Fox 5 a fair share. We don't have that problem with Direct TV and we have more channels

I usually watch Bones from fox.com because I always miss it on tv.
