Hair thining and breaking!

Last June I moved to a new town that has extremely hard water. We live in an apartment and it's not possible for us to have a water conditioner. I normally have EXTREMELY thick hair that is a few inches longer than shoulder length. Within the past 5 months I've noticed a constant, drastic decline in my hairs health. It's thinning drastically and breaking. I've never had a problem before and don't know what to do!! I use Bed Head moisture repair on my hair. What else can I do to stop/repair this?

  • Try prenatal vitamins and biotin supplements.  I'm working on thickening mine up after illness.  It's such a slow process.

  • I have also been taking prenatal vitamins... I have TERRIBLE water too. Try not to wash your hair every day if you can. Also try not to wear ponies and leave it down as much as possible.
Good luck! I know it is frustrating... sometime I look in the mirror and think my hair is shrinking, I have been taking these prenatal vitamins for 8 mos and it is sloooowly looking better!

I'm glad your hair is getting back to normal!! I really hope it dosen't take eight months to start looking better. I'm tired of looking on the floor and comb and seeing all my hair that has broken off. :(

  • I had surgery last year and lost 1/2 of my hair as a result of it tried biotin, prenatals, protein supplements and nothing. Only thing that helped is one of my friends is a hairdresser and said she had a client who had the same surgery as me and used Wen(the infomercial stuff) and it grew in great, 2 months later and "I'm a Wen girl"

GNC sells a hair, skin and nails vitamins. They are amazing! I used them after I started losing my hair with my last pregnancy. Hair grew pretty quick and my nails are strong as nails :-)
  • Yes try vitamins and a really good shampoo that's sulfate and salt free.
